It has to be jetted up a bunch if you block them off. Run it as is and then go from there.

Find the "list" number on the carb. Then go look up what jets it came with stock and if it had powervalves or not. Find the stock setup. Then go from there.

i'm not at all try'n to be a smart-ass, but tun'n a carb take lots and lots of
watch'n and learn'n.just leave it alone, find a buddy that want's to teach you
and let you watch and help.
kinda like a gutiar, do you need both E strings????

i`m running a 1150 dominator on a 496 roller motor with the power valves removed and four no. 88 jets. take a look at your plugs before you make the change. if they look good, go up about 4 numbers on the jets after romoval. if they look rich, do nothing but remove the power valve. its all in reading the plugs after a run without idleing. i run at around 3000 rpm`s for a few, then hit the kill switch and read the plugs right there. thats how i do it. somebody else might have a better idea..

imho i wouldnt/dont run a pv. seems to be more consistant sp? fuel going through the motor. as far as jetting 4 up is a great start.
excuse my english its late;............:o

One thing many don't know about PV's and Dominators is that the Dom's that do accept PV's typically have a much larger PVCR's (power valve channel restrictions) than 4150/4160's and thus require the higher flowing Power Valves.
As far as tuning your 1150 for your needs you'll have to figure that one out or get the help from a experienced tuner with that carb.
Everyone has a 'How to modify and tune a Holley Carb' in the bathroom right ? LOL.

Yeah...which is exaclty why I said find your list # and see what is "supposed" to be in the carb stock.

Not to point out the obvious but during cruise conditions the power valve is not in use. Most jet boats can run without them without a prob.

CFM touched on it. Measure the power valve restriction with a decimal drill bit, piece of wire or caliper or something. Calculate the area of the restriction and add it to the area of the stock main jet. Now you will have stock main jet plus power valve fuel flow. Remember that Holley jet numbers are not always the hole size.

I have a 468 with a 8896-1 1050. it came with power valves and 88 jets. Those 88 seem small for your carb or maybe I'm running richer than I thought. I pulled the sec. valve and put in 94, thinking of pulling the primary one.

River Rat 005, my carb is a barry grant #9377 --1150 cfm. i bought it used. it did`nt have any power valves but had 92 jets front and rear. the plugs and header collectors were just a little dark so i put the 88`s in. now the plugs look great, the heat marking is perfect and did`nt change the e.t. at all.:) i did this running sonoco 110 octane. this combination put me close on the 10 sec. number. on an 80 degree day it will run a 9.95 and at 90 degrees it runs a 10.10 sec. i got lucky and still do`nt understand how similar motors can sometimes be tuned so different and obtain the same results.
