Hey Guys Anyone Have Any Ideas? I Took My Boat Out For The First Time On Sunday And The Radio/cd Player Will Play Until The Volume Is Up Half Way And Then Turn Off. I Dont Think It Has Anything To Do With Amps Or Speakers As The Deck Shuts Completely Off.

Do you have dedicated batteries for the stereo system? If so, what was their state of charge? Might be a low voltage issue.

Have 2 Blue Top Optima Batteries And A Perko Switch. All Connections Look Good At Battery And Stereo. Volt Guage Was Reading Above 12volts. Doesnt Matter If The Boat Is Running Or Not It Still Does Turns Off.

My guess is sometime last season the radio probably got a little wet and it corroded over the winter. Without being able to look at it (and assuming you checked ALL concetions) It might be time to replace the radio.

Any speakers hooked directly tp the head unit? If so one of them might have a bad voice coil.

I have the Alpine 9857, and love it. If the 9885 is available, I say go for it, you will love it. The iPod integration is great.

I had the same problem, when the batteries get low and the volume is turned up the voltage would drop and shut off the head unit for a second. I also installed a larger dedicated power wire for the head unit.
Charge the batteries on a charger, not the boat alternator and see if the problem is still there.

You probably have two many speakers tapped into the head unit and it cuts out. Too much draw out of the head unit

I had the same problem with my stereo. Turned out it was my batteries not holding a good charge and needed to replace them.
