I heard that Mike Frys chute on his boat didn`t open and he went onto the shore and up the hill and caught on fire. He was ok from what I here. JBG was #1 qualifier yesterday

Hey HUUUUUUUUUUUD,
If the Mike Fry thing is true that would be the icing on the cake for him cry . He is a buddy of mine who has been trying to get the boat finished to go racing, and as usual something would always come up and he wouldn't make it. He just put a new capasule in the little Kurtis hydro, A BAE, Norm Grimes built pro mod engine, not to mention we were supposed to paint it with a wild paint job, but he was always out of time. Just hope he's OK and no one on shore got hurt.

just got back from ming! mike fry is A okay. holy shit did he launch the boat. he was on a full pass run. not sure but i think he went 6.12 at 197mph. I was taking a lunch break, heard him leave the line. the boat was on a awesome run. after he went throgh the lights he went to pull the chut but no go.I heard that there was a leak in the air fitting, not enough air to release the chut after shifting the lenco. burningm mike did a great job on keeping his cool and walked away :D . i have pics and will post tonight. http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/506/115P6220030-med.JPG

Thanks for shering, The motor looks real nice, & like Billy said if it runs like it looks should be real strong.
At this point I am shooting for Needles in April. Still way to much to get done. Should have new panels & kick board installed by the end of next weekend.
Morg.
BTW-how do you spell shering??

Hey Morg, I have a name for your new boat...Jersey Maid.. eek! .Reason for the name.. Because your milking this project to death :D :D :D :p JK there BUDDY!!! As far as the Mike Fry crash goes it appears he was very lucky that he just walked away. I don't know how many of you know Mike but he is very vocal. To the point that we call him the John Force of drag boat racing, in fact sometimes he makes John look shy :D . I can only imagine the ride home from the race. It looks like the bottom is pretty tore up, can it be fixed??? HOPE SOOOOO!!! Mike had just come by the shop on Thursday saying that he'd have the boat ready for paint by the end of the season, guess he was right. Lucky for him it wasn't already done.

We were pitted 2 down from Mike Fry. They are A bunch of nice people.I saw the crash and it did not look good. He got thrown around pretty good but got himself out of the capsule.I heard there was a large group of people that jumped in and helped drag the boat away from the fire. You have to love the way the boat people stick together and help any way they can. The crew was in good spirits after the crash.I'm sure they will be back soon. The boat is beatiful.

Bad Meds....How did the boat run.....

Bad Meds

A faulty rev limiter on the first run. 7.68 @ 141.mph
Pretty clean second run. Real lazy off the line.Want's more fuel 7.11 @ 165.8 mph
Gotta talking to about the 165.mph rule
First round eliminations we gave it more fuel.It liked it. It left better and felt good so I peddled it a bit and lifted at the e.t. lights to keep the mph down.I won but NJBA has the sand bagging rule so I was out. 7.34 @ 154. mph.
I didn't want to piss off the NJBA powers that be on my first time out .We got home before dark and it was a great time . Can't wait till Chowchilla. Test and tune on friday !!!!

First of all I want to thank everyone at Ming, The NJBA and Rescue for there quick responce in helping my brother Mike Fry. Eveyone was very helpful and even though Meanstreak is lost, we will be back next year with Meanstreak II.
My brother is fine, a little sore but is ok.
Thanks

O.K. Whats the sandbagging rule????

Lookin for Liquid
06-23-2003, 01:56 PM
In NJBA you are required in the brackets to make a full pass and accept that ET rather than letting off at the end and "Sandbagging" if you clearly have your competitor beat. When it was first initiated years ago it was to keep the flats from plating their boat if they were ahead of a jet boat so they would not break out giving the flats an unfair advantage and also a safety concern regarding in and out of the throttle at the top end of the course.

Hey Darrin, I thought I did to. That is what everyone told me. When I got my time slip it showed a win but was scratched and "sandbagged" was written next to my E.T.. I guess I won't lift next time ? How late were you there? Did you bring home the win?
