Indeed an awesome weekend of racing. Yes it is true. The White Knight hands down owned the 10 bracket. A consistent 10.0-10.1's all weekend. Congrats on the win Stark. You have got to be stoked. You too Hiteman! Congrats to everyone else who went rounds too. Good times and great to see everyone again.

If you've got a photo of me tree'ing Morgan i'll make it my new avatar. lol. that may never happen again. :D
I'm just glad he made it through that pass unscathed. Anyone got pics of Tom Cress last pass? Didn't see it but heard it was hairy.

Thanks for the pics chris.
i gotta thank my crew. HBJET and JET4Fun worked their butss off this weekend. We also picked up a sponsor, John Cogan owner of Concept Marine, and he kicked major butt as well. He not only helped us go racing financially but was right in the thick of things turning wrenches. We had a few issues on saturday with a non functioning launch controller and had to abandon it completely on Sunday but it all worked out.
We were cutting .0 and .1 lights and running 9.0's most of sunday during eliminations. I had a great time driving and am looking forward to a rematch with Roznos in the finals in May...:D

I just want to say how proud I am of Kara (Mrs.Moose). She did a great job of driving with not having alot of seat time in the boat. Her best run was a 9.54 et
@ 109.8 mph. I also want to thank the Banderlog crew ( Wax-on, fleetimus, Oldsquirt, slotracer) for jumping in to help out. And also those that stopped by to give moral support. With out your help I would have been a total wreak.
I know I have always been the one driving the boat but, standing there waiting for Kara to make a pass put knots in my gut like none I've felt before. I know with a little more time and experience in the seat, she will be a Damn fine driver + she's cute too . It was very funny to see the look on the guys faces as she, eeek ( a girl) was towed to the ramp and then again when they found out she was running quicker than them. I don't yet know where we will go from here ( as far as racing ) but it will be fun never the less. I got some great input from some of the best in the buisness ( Joey Grose, Jack Mcclure, cs19, BP, Joey silvera (sp)?) even Steelcomp jumped in with some great advise and I found out that our setup is way off. With some new hardware and some more changes, the boat should get into the low 9.0-9.50 and even the 8.50-9.0 brackets. The motor ran great and Joey Grose built us some awsome power. Jack Mcclure did a great job on the bowl, impeller and Quick Data system.
Again I just want to say Great Job!! Honey!!!.

Mike, we were happy with it.. Before we went to the racetrack I asked Mike if he wanted to try and win the race or if he wanted to strictly work on the set up, he said he wanted a trophy so that is what we focused on. There are a few tenths and some MPH left in the set up but we were hesitant to try things since we were right where we wanted to be for our class. We did not get into the nitrous, our goal was to run as close to 10 flat as possible.
The boat was fun to drive, I had a few driving and handling issues but it was my first time racing a gullwing, huge thanks to Mike H. for letting me shoe this thing.:)

It was a good weekend overall. The dragon was only good enough for runner up in the 8.50 bracket. I got treed in the final by an inferior boat but thats racing. Made a decent nos pass into the low 8.30s with some set up and wiring trouble. Tried to fix it for Sunday morning and almost went for a swim, was lucky to stay in the boat.
Cs had a great weekend, completely re rigged the boat in the last 6 weeks then took it out and DOMINATED the 10 second bracket earning him a swim in beautiful lake Ming. It was a well deserved swim and a long time coming. Once again sick job. Way to throw a wrench into the points, they better hope the night does,t return for an encore.:)
Congrats to cyclone for going rounds in the 9 second bracket but eventually meeting the king rossnos in the final. Looks like you guys are starting to get a handle on the boat.
John d laid down some big nos passes costing me a 100$ to red rocket. Nice tune up Mike. John had a 8.25 pass against a mafia member, they might want to send a better representative next time.:D Nice job on runner up in ubfj should be a good class this year.
The wonder ran some good numbers I believe a 8.30 something and some mid 8.50s or 60s. Nice job on the weekend. I do agree you need to find out where half track is,the numbers don't add up. Get quick data then you will know how long you squeeze.:)

cs19.........#1 Qualifier, 1st win w/ very few issues when all was said and done! Very good weekend indeed. :D Some great racing right there besting the two hardest people to get in the bracket in the last two rounds!
SKS........Great performance and keeping it all in hand when you needed to. The ribbing was great the whole time!
Jerry Hicks.....Rockin all weekend and still the man to be at the top all weekend in UBFJ. Some good stuff right there!
cyclone........Improved all weekend and went all rounds that you could. Way to stay consistent! Boat "still" wet...;) .... but definatley on a going forward trend. Nice! Kudos to the kaos crew!
Mike, John.......Great running all weekend and a "she's got an 8.20 pass tomorrow" and pulling it off after a night like that.....http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/732happy34.gif
Good seeing everyone I like hanging out with and meeting a few more. MikeH.....White Knight is real good and a performer! Steel....gettin a little closer to the 9:50's. Goad....Was cool catching up with you, and I will be after that shirt sometime soon. Wished I'da met some of the LB NoCal crew next to us.
Hearing of how Tom was laid to rest.......very cool! The best to the Papp family. Mom made a really good kid!

well im sure glad that you were in the boat with me so you can tell the real story...i guess lee must not have had a good angle considering he was sitting right at half track and watched me lift the bottle at half track...thanks for clearing things up...i dont know why you just cant say good run and leave it at that instead of always bagging on my shit...i dont really have anything to prove to anyone it runs what it runs...but if we need to pair up in a grudge match then so be it....i would love a shot at the 516...your boat runs real hard and i would love a shot at it...ill go ahead and say it...the 8.20 something you clicked off was a hell of a pass and im glad to see that you and mike are running real well!!!!...congrats john!!!

Chris.
Nice, cant wait to see what it will do with the nitrous, congrats again guys

well im sure glad that you were in the boat with me so you can tell the real story...i guess lee must not have had a good angle considering he was sitting right at half track and watched me lift the bottle at half track...thanks for clearing things up...i dont know why you just cant say good run and leave it at that instead of always bagging on my shit...i dont really have anything to prove to anyone it runs what it runs...but if we need to pair up in a grudge match then so be it....i would love a shot at the 516...your boat runs real hard and i would love a shot at it...ill go ahead and say it...the 8.20 something you clicked off was a hell of a pass and im glad to see that you and mike are running real well!!!!...congrats john!!!
Tony your 8.39 was a nice pass but you ran the bottle way past half track
so post the facts not your bullshit. Just like in PHX you ran a 8.70 with NOS to half track. You want a shot at 516 bring it. I have heard all the shit you been talking about me and Miller. So put your 7.70 tune up in and bring it. If you wanted a shot at me so bad you should have stayed in the 8.5 bracket and not run off to the 9. Well your 8.39 = out in the first round. So keep talkin shit.

Congrats to Cyclone for making it to the finals in the 9.00 bracket. You did a hell of a job getting that boat to leave on Sunday with no launch controller and a manual diverter. Let's keep this forward momentum going!
Congrats to CS19 on the win. Impressive all weekend and that boat was dialed.
Congrats to Sofa on the 2nd place. Your boat always impresses me, even sitting on the trailer. That run against Cyclone was on edge, glad you made the right decision.
Congrats to John D. That is one quick boat. It was cool pitting next to you guys.
Thanks to John Cogan at Concept Marine and Robert (JET4FUN) for all of the help and support. Everything went smooth for the most part and it showed in rounds.
Saturday Night was off the hook by 2am as it could have been a scene from "The Real World - Bakersfield" :D It was good to see some old faces and meet some new ones. RCB, you knew the night was going to take a turn when that second mug of beer was brought to you. To summarize on the night, my memory recalls something between Sofa and CS at the dinner table, too many shots being handed out by Fuelinmyveins, John Deer flat bill, minivan burnouts, Snoop Dogg, Bar Brawl, more shots from Fuel, cops, ghetto bird, 3 hours of sleep, talking to Mike Miller at 7:30am in the pits still wondering when the hangovers were going to kick in.
All in all, a great weekend and it was good seeing everyone who showed up to race and those who came to watch. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!

What a wonderful way to pay tribute to our lost companion Tom Papp. I want to say thanks to everyone for putting on a great show this weekend. Tommys mom is still overwelled by everyone that tommy has touched. Its been a very pleasent surprise to her. She and the family didn't quite realize all the people that appreciated him.
I also want to say congrats to all the 1st and 2nd place drivers this weekend and esspecially to the drivers that I get to be associated with. It was a great weekend. It was great to watch Eddie and Debbies Bad habit racing team finally have a great weekend and to finish it up in the finals with a pass something around a 5.62 at 208 mph. That was awesome.
I will be going through the 1600 photos that Robin and I shot this weekend as quikly as possible and get some posted. Thanks again and so looking forward to the next race. Hopefully some of you guys will make it to firebird in april.

Overall had a blast looking forward to next race.

not a problem, congrats to chris on a great weekend, and the win. wish i'd had made it closer, but that's racin... with 70+ races i've competed in over the years, it's certainly not the first time i've been beaten; if i was afraid of that, or if it was gonna hurt, i wouldn't be out there - i'd be standin' on the sidelines like some others... chris had to do that, nobody else did it for him. i'd also like to mention that he took out Rolf and Sam on sunday, no easy feat.
finally, Rolf led the points all year last year - until october.. which is the only month the points mean anything... firebird next...

i honestly don't have any idea, and i don't really pay any attention to it. for some reason, the nose was drifting around a little, and i had to work it to stay straight. and, like robert said, i've been out there too many times when the barge doesn't get the rope up soon enough, and i shake the hell out of it when we go solid, to make sure they're paying attention. pretty much a habit by now, more than anything else. i've had the numbers start dropping and the rope is in my lap, which isn't a great feeling, barely lift it to get it over my head to leave, not caring or realizing that the same thing was happening on the other side.
which reminds me; there are a LOT of very cheezy rope deflectors out there, and if the rope doesn't get high enough (or breaks when it's being lifted), it's gonna rip the tops off some engines, rubber band back and take some heads off. our rules are innadequate for the rope deflectors (allowing cheeziness), and that should be rectified before somebody gets seriously hurt. you don't need to believe me, ask lakamp, guthrie, or call segni (who went in the water to keep his head attached). the other part to that is the starter is on shore, not on the barge, so he won't see it and redlite the course before it's too late; everybody else has the starter on the barge, who reds the course when the rope or pulley causes a problem. one of the cheezy one's i saw had been pushed down by the time the weekend was over. i've mentioned this several times to different people while teching, but they are within the rule.

I would like to thank everyone at Ming for your support and help and kindness. I had a great time, and what a rush that was, I really think I'm hooked and now trying to find out how to make all the races. I want to thank Joey Grose, Tony Scarleta, Bob and Chris, and Brian and Redding Video for everything. If I forgot someone I am sorry but thank you.
I think I did really well for my first time, and I think I may be coming back for Bracket racing.
Brian I was wondering if you could let me know how to get my License, when I went up there it wasn't ready and we had to leave. Thank you again to all and I'll be seeing you soon.
mrs.moose, there are no licenses in njba. there are in ihba. basically, you've demonstrated that you can get on and off the track safely, and handle the boat, so step on in:D

Hello Everyone
bp
Lisa and her crew was helping to distribute the lic and she found a few mistakes so the ones that are wrong hopefully have been re-done.
I re-made them from March registration and if everyone wants to send me their address with $100. in a self addressed envelop with pre paid return postage, I'll mail them their lic and the new med card on the back with lamilating pouch, but the lic was generated form the March 2007 roster. So what ever class or bracket they ran, is what the lic grants. Any kinkos or office depot with lamilating equip can heat them together.

Wow Willis, I didn't know that they were for sale?
The last I knew, the board had "Grandfathered" in drivers w/ verified times and classes ran. And that we were keeping track of the times/classes ran and issuing them only after they were licensed/approved by Lisa and myself.
(I hope it was a typo and an oversight by you, the licenses are suppose to be free to the members and issued at the following race by Lisa in the Tower) ...

Well Bob, I'm not sure where you were, but in '05 I took High Point Runner Up in TAH w/ NJBA ...
check the results page ...
While I ran into the well into the 6's ... never claimed to run mid 5's ... but I did get my license in TAH w/ NJBA ... but the last time I checked our rulebook (or IHBA's) ... there wasn't a qualifying ET for licensing in TAH ...
I'm sorry that I didn't verify my passes and time slips w/ you first. I didn't know that that was your job ...
And I agree w/ Mike (cyclone) here, why didn't you hear my announcement at the driver's meeting on Sunday or the multiple announcements about the issuing of licenses?
i have no idea why i didn't hear this. i know i had bronchitis (on antibiotics), other than that, i was standing there by myself.
the question is not whether you made a run in the 6's, although all your runs in competition were 7 seconds plus (PM range), or got a runner up with your open boat, but what is this license supposed to imply? over the last 9 years, i've seen more rookie drivers destroy brand new TAHs than anything else.
my question is not so much about you (although your example is right there) as it is about this license. again, what is it supposed to imply? taken at face value, you could jump into any capsule and run TAH in competition, when you've never come close to those numbers in a capsule. brad made many sub 6.50/180+ passes last year, so is he considered "licensed" for TAH?
the fact is that we have a LOT of bracket boats, and FEW competitive class boats that can run within 1-2% of where the class should be. most are at least 10% above a real class record. this is a license of the driver, not the boat, so the implication is that anyone with a class named on their license is fully qualified to enter competition with any boat competing in that class. that -seems- just a little absurd...

There not the $1.00, covers the cost of the printing supplies and the pre-paid envelop is for them.

Either way if you go to ihba for a race and it is your first time or a class upgrade you will have to make a "license pass" might not have to be a 1/2 track but will still need to be done to show that you can properly control your boat before you are actually allowed to race in competition.
Had to go thru this last year at red bluff even though i showed that i ran boat 2 months before in njba.Took me 3 runs to prove so 1st i started to shut down at 3/4 track was told go full next one was aiming towards center so i backed off 3rd one was good to go.Shouldnt have shut down early on the first i would have been fine. This was for comp flat but can be required for faster brackets too and pass has to be within the et range.Actually aint to bad a process charlie tries to get you finished and out of the way so you can get in a qualyfying run so be prepared to be hot lapped but if all goes good expect 1-2 runs.
Also went to an sdba race and wasnt required to do a licence pass ihba license was accepted

If I have to qualify myself w/ you ... I have the time slips to back up my ET's running against all named above ... as far as referring to me as a "rookie" driver ... then you obviously don't know me that well.
you absolutely do not have to qualify yourself with me. you, as race director, can obviously license yourself for whatever you want, whether you've ever raced in a capsule or not.
As far as my licensing w/ NJBA, if you feel the need ... you can ask Don Jones about the passes I had to make ... again, not that I have to have you sign off on my abilities ...
again, I DON'T CARE. you can do whatever you want to, and i am not saying or implying you can or cannot. what i AM saying is that you have not gone through a license process in a tah. now, you can say you have 'til the sun goes down, i'll still say you haven't, and we will just have to agree to disagree.
As far as my passes in '05 consistantly being in the 7's ... that's because I was dialing in for the 7 second bracket ... the 165 mph rule made it impossible to run quicker.
well, there you go.
To associate our org w/ any other would be ignorant ... that's like saying that simply because you're qualified in our 7 second bracket ... you should be able to hop over into a capsule in IHBA's Pro Mod class ... not true, 2 totally different worlds.
are you sure? ihba requires licenses for TE and quicker. there have been several racers that have gone to an ihba race and were licensed and allowed to run their classes based on their past record at bakersfield. and, if those 7 second runs had been in a capsule, yes you would be able to provide your records and run.
Maybe you should run for the board in '08 and make yourself availble for the meetings ... you sure do have a lot of input about how much NJBA is doing wrong ... about about helping to educate us to make it better.
the answer to that is the same as it was when i was asked 5 years ago. if i didn't live 230 miles north of where the board meetings are held in the middle of the week, that might be an option. at present, it's not. i'm saying how much njba is doing wrong??? you started this by posting something that says you're licensed to drive something you've never driven. you made it about you, and again, you can do whatever you want to with it, and i don't care.
i certainly do think that a license idea is good, but it would seem logical to make it at least valid enough so that it would be acknowledged as realistic when a driver went elsewhere. if you believe it's "ignorant" to think this license could be used to demonstrate qualification in another org, then carry on.

I think what started this is that there was a question from Mrs. Moose regarding picking up her NJBA license, and bp, you made a flat statemenet that there were no licenses, which was incorrect. While you and Busby may argue semantics about his TAH license, isn't the fact that NJBA is now issuing an actual license a step in the right direction?
C'mon, guys.
