Rubicon up dude. Congrats. I took mine out to my river house in October. If it's too cold or windy to go boating ,we go jeepin'.
I put a K&N air filter on it and it made a world of difference.

we went in to look at the 07 rubi and found this new 06 tucked back in the corner. I looked for the yellow rubi last year but could not find anymore (I had to settle for the soft top but I can always buy a ht later)best part is they still had the 0% dealio going for the 06 model:)

I need one of these. What should I expect to spend on a nice used one that's ready to go? I realize that's a pretty subjective question but a ball park would be cool.

Depends on the year and how nice you want.
Jeeps are like Classic VW bugs....It is hard to find a decent one for less than $5000 no matter how old it is.
There was a really nice newer jeep in the classified section for about 20K a week ago.
Make sure you get the 4.0L 6cyl:)

Thanks. So it sounds like I can find something for 8-10k (my budget) that would work. Anything else besides the 4.0 that I should be looking for?

you can find some really nice ones for that price, if youre just going to use it for a toy then some have really cool mods done to them but if youre gonna drive it everyday stay away from lifts and big tires in my opinion.
BTW is your house rented for the weekend of april 6?

10K will buy you a nice jeep to play with.
Honestly I know about enough to get me in trouble.
I would do some searching on jeep sites or ask around here. Everyone will have there opinion but you should be able to weed through the bs and find what works best for you. I personally like the more recent jeeps...seems to be a little more refined and AC is a nice bonus for Havasu.
Thay all suck for long trips on the freeway.(I would love to have 1 for a third car but i could never drive one daily)

Depends on what you want to do with it. I would go with at least a 97 or newer with the 4.0 6 cyclinder. The other motor is a guttless 4 banger. Doesn't have to have a lot of mods as you can always build the jeep for what you are going to use it for. The stock jeep is very capable of doing a lot of the trails and you can learn real fast what YOU like. Then Just Empty Every Pocket.

Luckily use mine as a 3rd car. Kids convinced me to pull the top and doors last week (1 month earlier trhan usual) and now it is starting to rain......LOL!
Daughter just got her permit (and me another wave of grey hair) and of coarse wanted to drive it. Told her she is not driving this thing on anything but surface streets. An emergency lane change at 70mph for a inexperianced driver would be disasterous. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h217/bilgewiper/1-22-06008SmallWinCE.jpg

Don't get me wrong. Jeeps are awesome. I have friends with them and we have had a lot of good times in them but the Rhino is just so much more nimble and quick. You can drive it like a trophy truck and they take a beating. Not metion they fit on some tight trails. I really didn't need a 3rd vehicle so the Rhino was the way to go. :D :D

I don't frequent JU much anymore. There is only so much Jeep Tech one can take and arguing about the same things over and over:mad:. I read on rubi-owners as they are a bit more friendly. OCMerrill is my name on both sites.
I am no jeep expert as this is my first. I am slowly setting it up to rock crawl (something a Rhino just is not suited for) w/ 35's and a series of lifts, bumpers, etc. The family loves it. We used to have an International Scout II (for many years) and were in a club, wheeled the piss out of that thing but kids came and I bailed out for a while. I should have kept it as they are becoming valuable.
We should all ban together for a Jeep run (Rhinos too as I am not a Hater:) )
We absolutely dig our Unlimited.
Also Jeep rule....ONE IS TO NOT add receipts on mods. Same as a boat:D
As long as the credit card is good just keep swiping. Also I purchase most my stuff from Northridge4x4.com in Washington. Great people.
Also I would avoid 4-wheel parts...enough said.

You have to ease into Pirate and earn a place before you can get into the thick of things over there. Its a great site for info, but has been diluted over the years with stupid stuff. Its a bummer when you search a subject and half the posts are people say search newbie! In the early years you could not beat the content of that site.
