As some of you know by now, I am a wholesaler in the car business. A quick description of what I do is I am the person the dealer would call to get a "Buy Figure" on your trade-in while you are at the dealership. Once I give them that "buy figure" they try to complete the deal with you, the customer.
I would like to offer my advice to any fellow HB member. I can help you guys make sure you are getting top dollar for your trade in if that is what you are going to do. I'll share with you what Kelley Blue Book is on your vehicle and how it stands in today's market. I will not only give you what I think your car is worth wholesale (trade-in), but I can help you price it in the private seller market. Last but not least, since I am posting in SPAM, I will make you the same offer to purchase your vehicle for cash that I would normally give the dealer who calls me when you are trying to trade your vehicle in.
Hopefully having a cash offer to purchase your vehicle should give you more negotiating power at the dealership.
Since I do aquire most of my vehicles wholesale, I am an EXTERMELY good source to purchase a pre-owned vehicle from. You can post on here or PM me your details so I can help.

I still have it because that's all the dealer wanted to give...it's gonna take the right buyer who knows a thing or 2 about towing to really appreciate it. If you are seriously interested let's talk...:D

How about this one. I have a 2006 Boxter S. Automatic withTiptronic. Black on Black. I have a lease buyout on the car for $40,000. Sticker was just over $60,000 last year. Car has 14,500miles on it. I am not going to buy the car, just wondering if I can get any money if I buy and then sell it.
Car is registered in Wisconsin but here in Cali. What should I do?

Just making sure on the equipment.
As long as it was a nice vehicle, I would be right at $17k to $17.5. What did the dealer offer you?

Absolutely. The only snag is that if you buy it, you have to pay sales tax on the buyout. If I buy your lease out, I will pay you some equity based on what I can sell it for. At this number, I am thinking that I would be able to buy it for about $41,000. So I buy the lease out and cut you a check for $1000.00. It might even go up to $1500.00 or more when I get some more exact info on the Porsche.
I will PM you my contact info.

Wholesale bluebook is $14,875 give or take a couple hundred for some other poss options. (power seat, sliding rear window, infinity prem sound). It sounds like a very nice truck. The dealer should offer anywhere from 12k to 13k, depending on that you are trying to buy. A dealer that sees the potential of reselling your truck on their used car lot will offer you more than one who will wholesale it out.
I would be in that range to purchase it from you.

I am on it. I would like to have your truck. It has a Kelly Blue Book of $9075.00 I am sure that most dealers prob offered you less than that but I would be very close to that number on a truck that needs no recon. Do you need to find the truck you want to buy to sell your truck or can you sell your truck outright first?

These vehicles get hit hard because of the miles. The Blue Book is between 14,725 and 14,900 depending if it has the sport pakage. I take it that premium wheels means it has chrome factory wheels. On a car in excellent condition mechanially and cosmetically, a dealer would probably offer you around $9000 to $10,000. Retail wise you should be able to market this car for around $14,000. I would need to make a couple calls but I would be around the $9000 range for a cash purchase on a perfect car.

The BMW has a wholesale Blue Book of $41,200 based on the options you spelled out in your post. You have the option to sell your vehicle just the same way as if you had purchased the vehicle and financed it. You are actually in a better financial position in realtion to what you owe if the cap cost on the lease was the same as the sales price on the day you picked it up. Reason being is that you did not have to pay sales tax on the entire price of the car, you are just paying sales tax on the monthly payment month by month as you use the car.
Call your lease company and get the payoff for what you owe. A car like this can vary greatly from dealer to dealer and as programs are constantly changing for better or worse, the value on this car can change that quickly also. A dealer should offer you about 35k to 36k since it does not have Navigation. This is a very desireable feature in these cars and could affect the value by as much as 1000 to 2000 dollars or more.

I need as much info as possible. I assume it is XLT, no leather, 4x2, single rear wheels and no other options other than what is listed above.
Wholesale blue book is $13,125. If there are more options then the blue book and value would go up. A dealer should offer you around $11,000 for that truck. Once again, if it has more options the value goes up. I would offer you the same amount on a truck that does not have any paint work or needs very little recon.

The Kelly Blue Book is $27,550 based on the equipment you listed above. A dealer would probably offer you around $24,000 for the truck. I like these and would be closer to $25,000 for a cash purchase as long as it is in perfect condition.

George- With everything this truck has and the miles being low for the age I was thinking somewhere between 13-14K. These trucks have gained in popularity as the new 2500 HD's are so expensive. I would have to get this sold first as pay off is still lingering. To make it work for pay off on it and to get enough for a down on a newer HD this is where I would need to be.

Would it help if the car has a new tranny with less than 7K, new motor with less than 1K, all new window motors, new truck release, new emergency brake caliper, and a new AC compressor and HI/LO switches.
All done through Jaguar warranty.

The wholesale Kelly Blue Book is 30,875. I just got off the phone with my Cadillac guy,. He said it should be worth around 24,000 with all the incentives they currently are running on the new ones. Since most Cadillac dealers are also Hummer dealers, you should be able to get even more than that since they can resell your car on their own used car lot.

Absolutely. The only snag is that if you buy it, you have to pay sales tax on the buyout.
George
Not sure that's the case. I bought out the last 2 vehicles I leased and didn't have to pay additional tax on them.
I think there is something that states if you turn it in 14 days you don't have to pay the tax. I could be wrong, but I think that was the story.
The first was sold for cash to a private party. The second was sold private party and financed through a credit union. The buyer's credit union confirmed the tax avoidance scenario. In both cases I was never contacted by the DMV to pay additional taxes. And we all know how the DMV is about collecting their money:mad:

They do run about the same as Carmax. Basically, most reputable car dealers will pay the fair wholesale market value when purchasing a vehicle. It is what I do daily. I buy and sell anywhere from 50 to 100 cars/trucks per month wholesale.
You should be able to sell it pretty quickly private party for around 18k to 20k. CARS.com works the best.
Good luck.

The wholesale Blue Book is $5000. As long as it is not some off color, a dealer should give around $3000 for that truck on a trade in. I would need some pics if you are interested in selling.

The blue book is $11,475. F150's in this price range are good merchandise. A dealer that would take a chance and try to resell this should give around $9000. If the truck is clean, I would be around the same price, maybe even a bit more.

The wholesale Kelly Blue Book is $18,825. Even with that many miles, it is still a sellable truck at a GM dealer. They should offer you around $15k for the truck as long as it is in nice condition. I would be a buyer at that same number.

Since you only listed the standard options, that is the way I booked out the car. The wholesale Blue Book Value is $20,800. This is the last year of this body style. That hurts. The 2003's are out there for anywhere from 21k to 25k depending on miles and eqipment. This puts a value on your car of about $14k on a trade in. That is pretty low considering what it sold for new. A fair price to ask for it retail would be between 16k and 18k.

These diesel excursions are very good trucks. They hold their value well. The wholesale Kelly Blue Book on this is $24,675 after a deduct of $1800 for the high miles. Very clean truck. Once again, this is a truck that holds its value well even with the miles. Even after a $2800 deduction for the high miles, the wholesale Kelly Blue Book is still $22,825. That is pretty good for a 4.5 year old truck and 95k miles. The dealer should give 19k to 20k for this one. I would be right there for a cash purchase also.

That is pretty close across the board. My normal course of business is to take a vehicle I have purchased from wherever I got it and resell it in a day or two for somewhere around a $500 to $800 profit. They will then mark it up to the retail consumer for that extra 3k to 7k or more, depending on the price range of the vehicle.
Fixing the dent does not matter to me. I just add it to the estimated cost of recon and figure out the value from there. It does matter if you are going to try and retail it.
I hope this helps.

Good truck to be selling right now. Suburbans are in short supply, The ones with the lower miles brin all the money, but your should do well. The miles does hurt it some. ok cd here is one a freind wants to get rid off.its a 1999 chevy tahoe ls 5.7 auto four door 2x4 77000 miles.clean no dents.
I am assuming it has the power package and cloth interior. The wholesale KBB is $8425.00 These are very good merch in Havasu. A dealer in So Cal should offer you around 6000 to 6500. Depending on condition, I would be a buyer right between those numbers as long as it does not have any paint work.

NO REASONABLE OFFER REFUSED!!
The truck has a wholesale KBB of $6375. An inexpensive vehicle 4x4 like this usually makes its way across the border. A dealer should give you around $3500 to 4000 on a trade because he is trying to sell you something else. On a cash purchase, I would be right at the $3500 mark as long as the truck is NICE.

I have one more...
2004 Acura TL 3.2L, full power, sun/moon roof, Navigation, 17" stock alloys, black on black leather, 45,000mi. no dents/dings. The leather has normal wear...
Sounds like a nice car. The wholesale KBB is $23,050. On a trade, you should see right around $20,000, as long as it does not have any paint work and needs very little recon. I would be right there on the price to buyit also.

yes, fully loaded...nav,24" foose wheels, dvd, sunroof, heated seats front-rear...here is a pic..
No KBB on that one. This is just an analysis based on what they are selling for at auction. I would be a cash buyer for your truck at $38,500. That is prob what you would see on trade because it is much easier to lease a new truck than make the larger payments on a used one.
Let me know.

What about a 2005 Ford Focus? it's a ZX3 S model. Only option is A/C. It has 14500 miles. The front bumper has a couple scratches/gouges but is not caved in or messed up badly. The car is silver with a gray interior.
Thanks...Ryph
If it is a 5spd, the wholesale KBB is $9200. As long as the car is super clean, a dealer should offer you $7000 to $7500 'cus of the 5spd. They are more desireable in auto.

If this car is in perfect condition, it should bring all the money. The wholesale KBB is $10,050. On a perfect car, a Toyota dealer should give you within $500 of KBB. If you don't feel comfortable going to a dealer to sell it. I'll buy it for $9300, if it is nice.

With all the options listed above, the wholesale KBB is $25,425. The only bummer is that it is not 4x4. This would make it very popular among the towing crowd. On a nice truck, the delaer should offer you around $22,000. That is pretty fair on a trade. I would also be right there on a purchase.

Even after a mileage adjustment of $3575, it still has a wholesale KBB of $13,725. There are not a lot of So Cal dealers that woudltry to sell this so we are at the mercy of the auction. Based on avarage sales for the area, a dealer looks up this info and should offer you around 10k for the truck it it is very clean. I would probably do the same.

George,
thanks, but no thanks, they all sold for 40k, no matter where you wanted to get one in the u.s., 12 dealers all said no price breaks due to the limited production, so KBB is a little off, just my opinion.
Like I said, WHOLESALE. You are quoting numbers that they sold for RETAIL. Obviously there will be a premium on retail for specialty vehicles. That's why they only make a limited production. Of course dealers are going to say no price breaks, if you hear enough of them saying it, one would start to believe it.
Let me know when you sell it for 40k. I can show you at anytime the 7 trucks that sold at the auction across the country in the last 60 days with miles less than 10k and up from there. The spread on prices was $24,700 up to $26,500, for SEVEN trucks at the auction. That is what I do. Wholesale. I pretty much stated that in the first post in this thread.

BtB,
I could have sworn I sent you a PM. Schiadatime expressed interest in your truck so I asked if you still needed the numbers. Here they are:
The truck has a wholesale KBB of $24,900. This is not the most powerful Duramax but it still sells well. A dealer should easily give you about $23,500 for your truck.
The Yukon XL has a wholesale KBB of $13,400. With this many miles, your market is very limited. On a very nice truck, the dealer should offer you around $11,000. They still have a market down south.
I hope this helps.

Hi Rick,
Those Silverado's are good trucks. If it is "Fire Engine" red, that is one of the best colors. The wholesale KBB with the options you listed above is $19,925. With the shortage of pick up trucks right now, a dealer should give you about $17,500 for that truck, even needing tires. I would be the same and a straight cash purchase.

The Wholesale KBB on the Camry is $14,500. With the minor recon you listed above, (Paint the hood and tires) a dealer should give you about 12,500 for a trade in. I would be right there also, maybe even 13,000 from me. I like Camry's. I figured this without leather interior.

Sorry if I missed your post.
The wholesale KBB on the Expedition with those options is $21,400. With a new body style out, the dealer should offer you around $17,000 to $18,000 for yours as long as it is still under warranty. This makes a difference when they are considering the value for trade. I would be between those 2 numbers dor a straight cash purchase.

Looks like a very nice truck. The wholesale KBB on the truck is $19,425. I'm sure you know that there is a new body style out now. Fortunately, this has not affected the older trucks yet. A dealer should offer you around $17,000 for your truck on a trade in. They need some room for their recon, marketing, adv, commission etc. I would be a little higher on the offer than them. If it were a supercrew, that would be much closer to the KBB number.

I can give you 2 options.
#1 I can send it to the auction for you and whatever it brings minus the auctions fees (around 200 to 300 for a car this price) I'll give to you. Since the wholesale KBB is $2175, I don't think this car will sell for much more than $1000 at the auction.
#2 You should try a Park-n-Ride where you can sell the car private party for about $50 for the weekend. There are a few around us so PM me and I can give them to you.

The wholesale KBB on this truck is $6350. Since it is extremely hard to find trucks this old, this nice, and with so few miles, a dealer should offer you full KBB on trade-in. Maybe even $6600. They would easily get around 9000 to 10,000 for this truck on a retail lot. It is a very fair deal for you to purchase it for $8000 since you know the history and how few miles it is. I would buy it for $6800 straight cash purchase.

The Lexus is pretty easy to figure out. Pretty much everything is standar except chrome wheels. The wholesale KBB is $3750. A dealer will probably offer you around 2000 for a trade in. They are pretty dependable cars.
As far as the truck goes, I need more info or a link where it is advertised. (i.e. crew cab, supercab, gas or diesel) The more info I have the easier it is for me to give you a number.

04 Sahara, black in color, near perfect condition, stock, no hard top, auto trans, 3,500 miles.
Why so few miles? How much do you want for it?

DUCKY

I am looking for a good deal on an '06 or '07 4 door VW Rabbit for my wife. Must be manual trans, 4 door, prefer dark colors (united grey, sage green, black). I would actually prefer something with a little repairable body damage to save money, but no salvage titles. Feel free to call me if you run across something.

It spends most of it's time in the hangar, towed it out from cali, played around the ranch a while then put it in the hangar. Only use it to get it out of the way and maybe a trip down to the fuel pit.
$ figure is what I am asking you.

The Sahara comes up in the KBB with all the extra equipment. It has a wholesale KBB of $14,750. A dealer should give you at least 14k on a trade in. I would give you $14,500 to $15,000 for a straight cash purchase as long as it is a nice truck.
Let me know

I have a Yukon XL just collecting dust now. Thought about putting it up for sale on EBAY or locally but may just want to wholesale it to you instead so I don't have to worry about all the quaks out there, showing it, etc.
Could you let me know what wholesale would be and also what a fair retail price would be should I go the retail route?
Here are the specs:
2000 3/4 TON GMC YUKON XL 6.0 motor
Miles: 165,000 (mostly river miles every weekend)
Fully loaded with autoride
Captain Chairs for 2nd row
FIPK K&N kit and Flowmaster Exhaust
Upgraded tires and wheels
Removed all decals and mouldings
Aftermarket Sony Stereo/CD which plays MP3's
Has some "sand damage" on the fenders
Always serviced, runs great. New radiator, O2 sensors, fuel pump, etc. etc.
Let me know, here is a picture attached.

The wholesale KBB is $10,450. That is a lot of miles but the truck looks pretty clean. This type of truck is usually sent south out of the USA. A dealer will probably offer you around 6500 to 7,000 for a trade-in. If you try to retail it, list it for $9900 and take anything over $8500. That should be a pretty fair deal to all.

Your FIRST inquiry on your 63 Bug asking if I have buyers via a PM to me.
4-9-2007 8:34pm
I respond to you via PM asking for more specific info on your bug to help you out.
4-9-2007 10:34pm
You respond to my PM with a link to your VW which is OBVIOUSLY a specialty vehicle. Since then I have been working on trying to find you a buyer.
I can't believe that you didn't understand what I do as stated in my FIRST post. READ IT. Your 63 Bug is not my normal course of business, and I was simply trying to help out a few HB members here. You, my friend, are a bit too impatient and are accusing me of not responding to you.
Go find your free advice and help elsewhere. I will help other people here that appreciate it.
Oh Yeah. If anyone is looking for a 63 Bug .... here's the link:
