Got me thinking .....:D
While reading his blistering commentary on that "other" boat for sale thread...I wondered, specifically about ....the "cost to replace this boat new".
Now I suppose it would be relevent if the hull has not changed between the year for sale ....and today...I wondered about my boat.....How bout it HB experts....
Here is my scenerio
1995 Eliminator Daytona very nice gel, no interior rips....2000 watt stereo
2 hr old blown 468 with all "good" parts built by Dan Nelson...estimated by him at about 800-850 hp on 100 octane and 12 lbs boost....a/t pump setback droop hyd diverter stainless impeller and inducer rail kit tilton starter, ect, ect
basically a very nice quick well dialed in Daytona.....tandem trailer with brakes...and a removable tongue...
what would it cost to duplicat this ....in todays dollars......?
and is it fair to even reference that in formulating an asking price?
this is the boat...

I don't know what it would be new but I'd say yours is worth in the $30k range. BUT.......... If you had a chrome alternator it would be worth $75k. :D :D :D

Cost to replace is irrelevant, you would have a brand new boat with the latest in technology long with any improvements/ advancements the builders or suppliers. In your case there are a number of 1995, or there abouts, 21' Daytonas out there (same senerio for that "other" boat). If the boat was rare, then cost to replace could be a factor. The boat is really only worth what someone is willing to pay. Now that "other" boat that boatsnblondes has for sale is priced ridiculously and will be proven when, come a year from now, he is still married to it.

If in 1995, your hull, bare cost 10k to make, that includes labor & materials, and say the labor rate was 50hr, and say materials were 7k, I guess you would have to know what the 2007 numbers would be to do a comparision for true cost, is that what your asking ?? fiberglass / resins were less expensive 12 years ago, so were labor rates.??
Complete boat .....engine ...pump ....trailer....rigging stereo.....as pictured...
It's not a trick question.....nor does it really matter...:D

Brian I have two cents for ya.....
Your boat would be expensive in todays market. You figure all your cost......
These are all rough retail numbers.
Blank $25,000
Interior $5,000
Rigging $15,000
Pump I have no clue, lets say set up by the best $5,000
Engine $30,000
Trailer $4,500
This is just my rough idea of cost. I am no boat builder so they could be higher or lower, but pretty close.
can I have the boat now?
JBB next time I am in town we are going for a run....... I might be there again next month, not sure yet. Is it warm enough to go boating?

JBB...call Byron over at Hill props....he does marine surveying...should be able to tell you at least close....I would say, judging from it...a LOT..maybe over a hundred grande??
Before everyone jumps on me again....consider this...for a sec....when I went to the boat show last year, I couldn't get close to a new boat for less that 70-80..maybe I have good taste..but everything I liked was iin that range...and that was bone stock...you start adding in the things on that boat, huffer, tabs, etc, the price goes way up....maybe not 100, but close???

that would get you another 5k or so considering the added bling factor :D
