Just remember flames look like FIRE!!!!!! Those "everybody has them" graffics are not flames, just scalloped/swirled/pointed, paint............MP

i know what ya mean. my friend draws em out, i lay the tape, paint em ,then airbrush alittle for effects.i'm not capable of doin the "real fire" look just yet.still a novice painter(broke, lol).just trying to make the old school flames alittle better, but i need some ideas on shading colors to give it a more realistic look, not the decal flame look.

BASE COLOR IS GM BRITE WHITE.I'M SPRAYING GM ARRIVAL BLUE ON THE SIDES AND GIVING IT A "BELT LINE" ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TOP HULL LIP BACK TO THE TRANSOM. I WANT TO FLAME IT WITH THE SAME BLUE WITH SOME SHADING.

I gotcha. Check out this site. I think its all bike tanks, but it has lots of different colors & styles. Could give you some ideas on your shading & stuff.

Impatient1 are you going to do the over and under look like this one. This is how I'm going to try and get mine to look except useing the blue water splash, instead of the more pointed flames. I want to go under the hull as far as I go over the deck.

I WISH I HAD THE SKILL TO DO IT BUT NO JUST THE BOW.I SHOT THE BOTTOM WITH THE SINGLE STAGE URETHANE(GM BRITE WHITE) AND IT DOESN'T MATCH THE WHITE BASE COAT(GM BRITE WHITE)/CLEAR COAT UP TOP SO ITS GOTTA GO.I LOVE BLUE, SO IT'LL BE MORE BLUE THAN WHITE AFTER THIS REDO.SHOOT, I EMAILED YA SOME PICS OF WHERE I'M AT ON IT NOW.

GO TO A ART STORE ASK FOR A PERFRATING WHEEL. DRAW YOUR FLAMES OUT ON A BIG SHEET OF PAPER . THEN USE THE WHEEL ON YOUR FLAMES AND IT WILL POKE LITTLE HOLES IN YOUR PAPER .SO YOUR FLAMES WILL MATCH ON EACH SIDE . THEN AFTER YOU DO YOUR FLAMES .COME BACK WITH YOUR PATTEREN .LAY IT DOWN ON YOUR FLAMES THEN MOVE YOUR PATTERN DOWN AND BACK A LITTLE AND YOU'LL HAVE A DROPPED SHADOWS OF YOUR FLAMES.JUST COME BACK AND AIRBRUSH YOUR SHADOWS IN .
