As many of you have read already I bought a 78 sanger and have been fixing
it up and I built a 514 BBF for it. I made a debut run with it today. I back the
boat down and put the pump in the water to fire it off and set timing, check for leaks, etc. All looked good so I back it off and went for a cruise. Nice easy
3000 up on a plane. running really smooth..T valve working like its supposed
and all checked out after a little warm up I leaned a little harder to 4100.
Motor is very responsive. You hit, your there!...Just when I thought it was really looking good I dropped the hammer and it went to 5200 almost 5300
with a A&B cut impeller. These were Tim spears (proboat, GA) estimations
when setting this boat up. He was right on. Boat runs fantastic. Have a
place diverter coming soon so I can put out some great rooster tails.
I will bring a GPS one of these runs so I can see actually how fast it will run.
When I got back home I did the normal post check, plugs overall integrity,
etc. Plugs looked great! One issue I did have was the top mounted starter
did not crank the boat very well. So i upgraded to the new ford style which
is gear reducted and draws less amps then the other. Much better and it
cranks the motor over great. motor is making about 500hp. More pics to come.
Thanks to all the help from other fellow sanger owners, other jet boaters, and last but not least ***boat for providing such a great place to get info
and make friends. It has made my first jet boat experience great!
