Wow. With that amount of corrosion, that has had water in it for quite some time.
Had you been adding oil to the drive? As in, was it going somewhere?

was it the input bearing or the GIMBLE bearing?
Looks like part #10? It is ball bearing and not tapered like the input shaft.

Yeah, it's hard to tell from the picture, as it is knarled. But, that is definitely a ball bearing laying there, not tapered.
Hey, he's got mufflers, maybe it's a muffler bearing?

Yup, outer housing looks ribbed (for pleasure?) on the outer race, like the gimble bearing assembly:

It's been 20mph winds here all last night and today. Gusts to 40. Just had a decent little hail storm. Short lived.
Pretty cold, too. I just stoked up the fireplace, looks like we'll have at least one more fire this season. Thought I was all done with the fireplace.

Question is, if it is not you that services it - who has been neglecting to squirt some grease in the gimble?

Yikes! I just got mine back Friday! I didn't break but my bellow was leaking and I had a twisted prop shaft. All in all I saved a nice break down the road by having it done now. Don't want to break a teague platinum XR this season!
