What is the difference between aluminum and bronze impellers? I just took apart a spare pump and found the bronze one. Also, how do you know when you have a race shaft?

from what I understand:
Aluminum are rated up to 500hp, but recommended configurations are for about 350hp max while Stainless Steel is rated at 500hp+
Bronze, obviously, falls somewhere in the middle of those two.

so there's no advantage changing to the bronze if I have a perfectly good aluminum one in there already?
How about race shafts?

The brass will probably be stronger and more durable, but you will not notice a performance increase.

The bronze offers no substantive improvement in performance, other than a basically unlimited HP level, at far lest cost, and somewhat less debris-durability) than Steel. My Aggressor Mag Bronze is rated at 2,000 HP+ if I recall correctly.

You should dump (sell real cheap) the bronze impeller immediately. It'll slow ya down.
Sell it to someone...........oh say..........from Glendale Arizona.:D

race shafts--are they thicker than stock??
I know the shaft in my Dominator is a race shaft and the one in my Berkley spare pump measures the same

Useful info post #4 from rondane.
No snake the race shafts are not thicker than stock. The race shaft is just a harder stainless. Dont know how you could tell them apart as they appear the same.
Dominator made a bronze impeller at one time and don used one in his race boat with BIG power. Alot more than a recommended 500hp? I would think it is alot different from "mag-bronze" that smokin is referring to?. Better check with the boss about that smokin. Nice "rehearsed" post btw.

I have heard that the stronger "race" shaft is magnetic, vs the standard one is not magnetic.

Just a note, higher quality stainless is magnetic...
