Conference call tomorrow morning w/ corporate hq ... CF is informing racers that Torco is the official fuel, yet he was vague when responding to the bid ... wasn't definate ...
I'll know more tomorrow & hopefully a press release will be ready in the next couple of days ... I'll post up here when it's finalized.
Not sure about having it on site due to Firebird's contract w/ VP ... but possibly the casino parking lot? We'll have to see what happens.

Fegan promotes LakeFest so he can make arrangements with whatever fuel supplier he wants ... Charlie Allen promotes the World Finals and determines who the fuel supplier is for that race.
We only run VP and buy it here in Phoenix from our local distributor.
Interesting ... according to CF & the rules last year, I understood that you were only supposed to run Sunoco ...
If there is a spec fuel & the contract w/ IHBA states that racers are supposed to run that spec fuel ... why would a racer go against the rules and run something else? Isn't that cause for disqualification from competition?
That's why fuel companies are putting up the $$$ for the contract ... to become the official spec fuel ... seems like Sunoco was cheated by you last year, unfair IMO.
As I said, interesting insight ...

SO IM CONFUSED, YOU HAVE TO PARTICULARLY RUN THE FUEL BRAND THAT IS SPONSORING THAT EVENT OR THAT WOULD BE CAUSE FOR DQ. JUST A QUESTION?

part of the deal is the contingency that goes along with it. if there's an agreement to buy fuel at the track, they provide contingency awards for the racers. years past, it was a contingency for product. last year with whoever we had, it was cash. the whole deal is to run the brand, because they're the people providing the contingency. plus, ihba wants people to get the fuel at the track to avoid litigation...

Drag Boat racing is only one of numerous types of racing events that Torco supplies fuel to. Over the past year, I have been introduced to so many different types of motorsports events it's crazy.
There are a few things to remember when it comes to any kind of racing:
1. Competitors race for pride in their class as much as they run for money or prizes.
2. Competition should be fair and balanced
3.Spec fuel means "specified fuel" by the sanctioning body ... this keeps the playing field even when running a class
If the racers do not like it, don't blame the fuel companies, speak to the racing organization ... if they (the sanctioning body) offer it up for bid, it's fair for the winning bidder to expect to get what they have a contract for from the organization (in this case, to be the specified fuel) ...

According to Charlie ... the spec fuel is the spec fuel, and the racers are supposed to use that fuel, not another brand. Now ... where you buy that brand is up to you & if you bring it or buy it there.
It will of course be more expensive at the track due to the costs accociated with permits, employee costs, transportation, etc.
Now if people have got away with it in the past, they got away with it. But they shouldn't have IMO.
And to answer everyone's question, we have no answer ... we would love to finalize this, our Western Regional Manager is still awaiting an answer from Charlie at this point.

Hello People,
Need some info about the IHBA starting lights.
When you, the racer, is at the line, can you see both lanes light and count down clocks?
What are the disadvantages of the way the clocks are viewed by the racer?
Should there be more space between the counts down display light?
Should there be a bezel around the display so you only see your lights and countdown clock?

Looking at that count down setup was to distracting. IMHO they need to be spaced farther apart. I'm referring to the dual stage light setup that you posted it the video, not the NJBA lights.

don't know about you guys but i end up moving as close to the starters barge as possible to get a direct line of sight with the lights. this means that unless the boat goes perfectly straight (yeah right) i have to steer it to make sure i stay in the lane.

All classes must use VP fuel. Fuel will be tested. No exceptions.
To order Nitro for Season Opener: Western States Petroleum: Susie Ingram GM 1-800-220-1353 or 1-602-252-4011
Yes, I did say: "We only run VP and buy it here in Phoenix from our local distributor.": Western States is based here in Phoenix and is our distributor.

Ahhh ... I see ... thanks for the clarification ... good to know that you were "in the know" ... funny until April 4th that IHBA racers were being told that Torco was the official fuel, and that the meetings w/ Torco at Lucas HQ w/ CF were not mentioned in your post ... being that you were "in the know" and the one to "officially announce" ... I'm sorry, "officially slip" the VP deal.
I think that you slipped alright ...
If you all want to know the truth, CF went behind some backs within the Torco ranks and tried to get a better deal ... it just didn't work out. That is the simple truth.
As I said before, I am relieved that VP won ... it wasn't a professional deal by any means IMO.

Ron,
You may want to look at what the NJBA considers gasoline to be, I mean the properties react and how NJBA tech guy will read it so everybody will be legal.
GASOLINE
Gasoline, as defined, is a mixture of hydrocarbons. Gasoline is a good electrical
Insulator, or dielectric, and its relative effectiveness as an insulator is represented by its dielectric
constant. The average D.C. for the hydrocarbons, which comprise gasoline, is 2.025. This is
defined as a reading of 0 with the NJBA fuel meter. To compensate for possible temperature
differences of gasoline, which cause slight variations of the D.C., the maximum acceptable meter
reading is +1, with 0 as the reference reading. A gasoline which has a D.C. greater than 2.3 will
cause the meter reading to be outside of this range. The addition of compounds containing
nitrogen and/or oxygen may produce a mixture of D.C. greater than 2.3. Most gasoline’s meet
these criteria. It is recommended that unknown gasoline be checked before use in competition.
