One of the fastest growing segments of the skiboat/wakeboat scene is the V-Drive. The packaging of it however is quite different than the traditional hot boat setup.
The integral transmission and v-drive transfer case conspire to make a much more compact package than the traditional Engine,Trans, shaft V-Drive package.
My questions to you V-Drive experts are:
Is there a sahft angle penalty to be paid by using a fixed shaft location?
What is the typical Wakeboat shaft angle.
What is the typical Schiada RC 21 shaft angle.
Why is there seemingly no convergence between the traditional V-Drive and this new breed of Wakeboat V-Drives???
Thanks in advance

This is one hard core V-driver that has no use for those damn wakeboard boats. All they do is create un-nessessary wake for us to deal with and cause lake/river bank deterioration. Sorry to burst your bubble but they have ruined more than a few weekends for me and several of my fellow V-drivers. There is no convergence because there is nothing in common.

I am A Jet guy, But oddly enough I Agree with you about the wake thing!
I got stuck last week behind 3 comp skis in a canel, Only one had a skier, and they where all doing 20mph! Dam yuppies! I almost sank my dam boat, I finally got a little hole and flew right past the bastards. But I wasn't done yet, I recentley found out that I have my own fake-a-wake, its called a Big Block! I just slowed down to just have a little bow rise and went back and forth to cause about a 4 foot wake!
I wish I had a place diverter some times!
Heres to all the comp ski yuppies http://216.105.37.221/images/gif029.gif

Well I guess you missed my questions? Maybe I should have posted this in "Hot Spots".
Topic.
To me, I like boats....IOs, Inboards, V-Drives,Jets, Classic wooden boats,Offshore boats and yes for the intended purpose, skiboats!
To me they all have their place.
I have been on a slalom course at 6AM only to almost get skewered by a bass boat riding on the last 4 inches of it's bottom in a 5 MPH no-wake zone through the fog! Are all bass boats to blame? I do not want to believe so.
To take the big wake thing a little further, you have to imagine that as recent as 15 years ago people generally ran smaller boats on Havasu. The proliferation of large Deep Vs on Havasu has resulted in creating huge boat wakes for the smaller boats to get through. My friend know all-too well what that means. He showed me a picture of his 19' Eliminator Daytona with only the forks bobbing up and down, the swamping resulting from a big-boat wake.
It is really funny how the WakeV-Drive took off in the skiier's market. I think the manufacturers were as surprised as anyone.
What is the attraction?
Once people learned that you could have a prop under the boat, a full-width swim platform, a killer wakeboard wake, tons of room and amenities, plus a tower, and room for taking lots of friends, it became a done deal.
An indicator of what is perceived to be hot was was impressed to me by my kids last year at the LA Boat Show. They fell in love with a Malibu Wakesetter LSV. There were a lot better/prettier/cooler/faster boats at the show but they gravitated to it like a magnet.
Personally I like a boat I can trim and adjust for water conditions and speed....Something that is not "glued in" to the water.
I just thought that maybe someone with an open mind, might chime in and describe the differences, plusses and technical details of the different "styles" of V-Driven boats.
Jim Wilkes are you out there??
