View Full Version : Is this a good reliable outboard?

New to outboards and need some help. Thinking of buying this boat with a Johnson motor. Was told a fresh rebuild (cost $1660) with 3 hours and it make 227 HP. Not sure the year of the motor, but boat is a 1987. What kind of speed do you think it run and how reliable are these motors? It will be a nice family cruiser;) Thanks Joe

Prob. around 80 mph. 1600 seems cheep for a rebuild but Im not a mechanic.

Mabey he meant powerhead? The guy doesnt know a whole lot about the boat. Thanks Joe

maybe he meant the lower unit. my cle cost 2000 for complete rebuld with all race gears and drive shaft.
