First, is this where I fill the bowl with oil, and if so do I use 90 Gear Oil?
Second, Is this bad that all that came out of the lower plug is a likke grey slop and a lot of water?
Last, could this be causing enough resistance to be causing the "valve lash" noise I get above 3000 RPM's (I only get this noise when the boat is in the water, It runs perfectly at all RPM's on the trailer.

I'm a newbie to jets but...............I'd say that's BAD! My understanding is that the bowl needs oil, any oil. But those pix look to me like there is a seal leaking, allowing water into the oil causing the 'milkshake'. I'll let more experienced guys give you their suggestions but if it were mine.......I'd tear into it or take it to a pro. My $.02!

If it's milky, you're getting water through the seal. If your running it on the trailer, it probably needs a rebuild. Don't run out off the water!!! Yes, 90wt gear oil is correct...
On a side note, is your bowl on sideways. I thought the plugs were both on the top of the bowl??? At least mine are...
and if it's leaking the oil out, under load the shaft can be causing the noise, the bearings may be shot. Tear the pump apart and rebuild it, than NEVER run it out off the water...:D
Just my 2 cents

It takes 90 wt gear oil and it looks like that cuz you bowl seal is bad and water is getting in your oil/bowl. Take the bowl off and replace the seal, you may want to see if the whole thing needs to be rebuilt. The only real reason the oil is there is for freezing, other than that as long as there is water through it, it should be ok, that is if you're ok with broken sh**. As far as the knock, sounds like it is only doing it under load, might want to have the pump looked at or check it out yourself.:)

Reach in the handhole and see if you can move the shaft up and down. If you can move it much you may have a shot thrust bearing, which can make noise under load, and can crater your pump if it goes unchecked. You need to grease the thrust bearing once in a while too. Good luck.

The knock sound could also be the universal joint driveshaft (i.e. "H-Bar") going bad as well.
Give the pump a full rebuild. Sounds like the bowl seal is bad or is installed backwards, which is causing water to get into your bowl grease. There's really not much to it. Getting it all apart is harder than getting it back together.
And yes...unless you have a way to disconnect the driveline from the engine, do not dry fire it on the trailer!!! You will score up the impeller and the wear ring. I have a Jet-A-Way on mine so I can put mine in neutral. But if you're testing and tuning on the trailer, disconnect the driveline from the engine if you plan on firing it on the trailer.

You can order a rebuild kit from CP Performance.
You'll need the pump tool kit too, which I do have. If you need someone to loan you the pump tool set let me know and I can even help you along through the rebuild.

Crossbow ,that is a very common problem with a couple simple remedies, the guys are correct you likely have a rear pump shaft seal leaking ,relatively simple to fix .The could be as simple as a piece of monofliment fishing line or ?? wound around the shaft to worn bowl bushing, worn /scored pump shaft etc Feel free to call if you need coaching for further diagnosis Good luck !Tom
