I am looking for a 10 qt oil pan for my 455. I didnt realize that new ones were "gold plated". WAY TO MUCH $ Does anyone have any suggestions or alternative to a $500 oil pan? Is a used pan an option? thanks for any input.

Do you have any pics? I was considering making mine too. I have a MIG welder, a spare stock oil pan, and some sheet metal just waiting to be experimented on. I just want some extra capacity and I have a three point mount, so the shape might have to get kinda interesting.

In addition to interesting external shapes, the inside baffles also play an important role in controling the extra oil capacity. All the oil in the world won't help unless you keep it where the pump can pick it up. Just something else to design and fabricate, have fun.........MP

Thanks for all the info... This is off thread but cant seem to find anything on it.. I cant seem to get the PTO off the splined shaft!!! Shaft is out and bearing and bearing cap are still on so I cant get good leverage on it.. Should it be that tight? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
