What kind of structure? Metal frame? I'd check with SigEpMock here on the boards.

Step 1- a permit.
Step #1 - a structural / site plan. You can't get a permit without one

To do it right....
1. Soils test.
2. Plans.
3. Permits.
4. Contractor (willing to work up Hasley canyon).
5. Money.

I built a 14x40 for my boat, then needed to raise it a foot whcich was a chore.
Now, raising it another 5 feet and adding 5 feet in length sometime in the next 2 weeks.
I am getting good at these. Let me know if you have any qustions and I can help you as much as I can.

If you do a steel building do your homework and research the company selling it to you.
A while back a now former friend of mine lured me into starting up a steel building company. He said he was tired of selling buildings for crooks and wanted to start an ethical business.
My first deal wound up costing me money. I had to pay someone (with my own money) back their deposit for a building that was never delivered.

I have been researching the steel building thing for about 5 months. There is a bunch of out of state guys who will sell you a building and the plans for the structure will not pass the codes for California, which is when they tell you tough shit your problem now. I have decided to go with all buildings. They are local in Valencia. They even recomended a guy to do the set up. Runs about $3-$3.5 per sq ft. for set up. I am doing a 40x40, I have a connection on the concrete so it should cost me about $25,000 when complete.
