Can some one give me an approximate weight of my Tahiti? Or at least what the O.E. weight spec for it was?

You should be able to find out what model you have and the specs HERE (http://www.freeboardchallenged.com/brochure.htm)

ok so my Tahiti weighs in at 950 lbs (did they include pump weight in that?). Now how much does a fully dressed 455 Olds weigh?
BTW I love that site :) I have used it many times to identify friends jets boats.

The steel flywheel weighs about 40 lbs. and the cast iron intake is about the heaviest of all the intakes around. If using a flex plate and alum. intake you reduce alot of weight. If I remember correct, an Olds weighs about 575. They are lighter then a chevy/ford/pont which is a reason they were used I have heard.

Yes, I was rather surprised to see the Tiger Jets weight 950 empty.......
Mine is completely empty and it doesn't feel like 950 (maybe 700 or 800)
btw - is there a site like that for older I/O's
(Just bought an 82 Galaxie and would like some info on it as well.)

cool, I do have a regular fly wheel, but I have an edelbrock intake. If I went to a flex plate would I need a different harmonic ballancer? But then again I would have to re-ballance the engine :(

If I recall you might be able to have a flex plate balanced to match the flywheel. I would ask that in gearheads. I also think you might need a different PTO for the flexplate. I know they are diffrent on a BBC.

Thanks. It used to be part of Roostwear.com, but when I shut it down I saved all the files. I uploaded them to Freeboardchallenged.com and built a quick and dirty brochure page that I hope to redo properly in the future. I still have all the registry pages and may include them on the site.

in an old berkl ey book it says their packajet with a 455 weights in at 850.lbs seems alittle high but thats what it says. thats engine and drive . the picture used a 12 jb drive pretty much the same as jg earlier model .

Maybe 575 short block haha I dunno. I know a 350 sbc is around 550 right? A 440 dodge is bout 750, and BBF BBC and Ponticraps were 850lbs plus? We need a good site to compare dry weights
