I have read all the threads on here, and currently have the motor out and would be a snap,I was curious who on here has done it and have really seen results, there must be a reason they make these,I have read the pros and cons but did you guys find a gain???

Contact Chris Straub (CStraub69 here on the boards) and he can set you in the right direction. He's more knowledgable than any one else I know about cam design, and if there's more power to be had by a cam swap, he'll find it. You can also reach him at 423-854-0007...tell him I sent you. :D

Jetboats require about 20 HP per MPH gain, if you could get a 20 hp gain, everybody would be doing this. All yuo are doing is changeing the 5-7 sequential cylinder firing for a 4-2 sequential. If your manafold has a quirk that may be fixed, it might help, but 20+ HP, I think not. I have done it on several jetboat motors (450 to 900 HP) and have seen nothing. It won't hurt, but don't expect any help. It has a psych-out advantage anyway. TIMINATOR

Basically what Tim said. If your application is class racing and you need every bit of HP you can get, then yes you will see a small gain. Also if the engine is a large stroke application, 4.5" and above it does help in relieving some of the torrsional load off the crank. Other then that if you looking for a magic 40HP in a 500 to 700HP range your not going to find it swapping 4/7.
