how similar are these two hulls i found a good project boat that i can put my motor and jet in out of my boat but i wanted a kachina or kona because i like the way that my uncles kachinas ride so i was wondering are these hulls pretty similar???

Not the kachina. They were cheep for a reason and so are bayliners. If you get my drift.

Find what you want, and buy it... what matters is you want it, not approval on the intardnet.

i meant similar in charecteristics like the molds how it handles the water the more drivability of the boat and handling versus on how it looks if i get this one it will be a complete restore trailer and all

Go with a hard chine, the ride better. The tahitis that I have seen have a hard chine. Mine has a hard chine and blows out of the water like right now. Less spray in the boat as well.
Hey Tim what size tahiti do you have?

What year is the Kachina? I have an older one and its seems the newer ones were not built as sturdy. Does the Kona have full stringers?

it is a older kachina like a 78 i think his boat handless really well and it doesnt fly out of the water in a little bit rought water and ive heard alot that the kachinas and konas are a very similar mold so i was wondering if the caribean was similar also

I don't know the Kachina hulls well but yesterday in yuma I watched an open bow 21 or 22 do 86mph on gps n/a with a 557 ford. I just didn't like the little hop on the big end. I'm sure it needs some bottom work.:)

It actully takes a chop real well.

The older ones would be heavier than the new ones. They used the old woven roving in the old ones, more resin, more weight. They used kevlar, never seen them put it in. But he would brag about having a bullet proof boat, gosh why would you need a bullit proof boat, maybe to hide behind.

I have a 86 Kachina and it has cracks. Then again I'm out there when most are loading up. I'm rough with all my stuff. It handles nice till I hit 4' chop. Its definatly not a hand layup but it floats. It was cheap and gets me on the lake. May not look purdy as all the rest but when I'm towing you back its the best looking boat out there!

My '79 is not as heavy as the earlier '70s and it has held together really well. But I also dont beat the crap out of it either.
