If anyone is into vintage hydroplanes there is a cool website you might want to check out http://www.vintagehydroplanes.com/
There are some awesome restoration projects of old Unlimiteds and 7 Litre boats. One in particular really impressed me http://www.vintagehydroplanes.com/h54restorepart1.html

This family are well known in NZ for their powerboating feats, Snr has done it all and Jnr has diversified and races Trans Am amongst other things.
The local powerboat club has been around in one form or another since 1890 and was a place I loved to go to watch these and the K-boats battle it out.

Stab-n-Steer: Thought you or someone out there might be interested to know that we are bringing some of the old hydros back to the water! A 266 hydro, Maimi Mist ran an exhibition lap at the Racers Reunion intermission. Word has it that two more are planning to come to Moses Lake in Sept. That's a start! I hear the only place to race these are back East and they can only put on limited exhibition runs. Does anyone out there need a place to have some fun?? Great pictures! Jerk

The Vintage Hydros are racing at the Madison Regatta in Indiana this weekend.
The fourth picture is from a vintage race in Australia and the fifth is the same boat at a vintage race in Canada, no exhibition races at these places!!!
CircleJerk, I have been following your endeavors through your contributions here and I have to say that it is people like you who allow people like me to still enjoy some of the things from our past - keep up the good work.

Burbanite: Thanks, I neeeddded that! Today was a big day for Nostalgia! I just found out that somewhere in Georgia they had their FIRST Flat bottom circle race with the outboard hydros!!!!! This means Nostalgia had a SON! Or would that be a Georgia Sun? I am thrilled that now within the American Outboard Federation we are well on the way to National recognition and a permanent INBOARD class! This means the records we set at our Sept 21 race will be permanently in the books! And if you have'nt heard, APBA had a trial race in April at Parker Strip Arizona. I was going to test at the local lake today and came across a rare 76 Lavey-Craft circle boat and a 70's Sanger all there to test too!!! We have a bonified circle flat revival going on! Jerkster
