gee thanks Tony I think I will pull it to 9000 to see were it falls on its face and set my boat up to run that high ... :D
no its a joke.. my reason for the dyno is to jet it and see were the best hp and rpm range is so I can set the pump and boat up to run it.. I really dont care what #'s it makes as long as it makes more than the old engine in the righ spot...

well I had no choice as everything was junk in the boat I have around $20,000 invested into her now..... I had it running 70 with the old stock HURT engine with 2 adults and a 2 kids so it will be a little faster now.

Its my brothers, so I can't say but it was stout!!!!!
If he feels the need to tell then he will but its just Dyno #'s anyway. Just with carb tuning and jets it picked up 30 hp I can tell you that.
I don't want to rain on his parade so Im all done..

WOW is right it was a blast. I have never been so happy and scared at the same time. it made real impressive #'s. I am happy with the tune up and the #'s to say the least. I have to thank my brother for all his help and input and keeping me on track so I didn't wonder all over the place with this build like I tend to do. as far as posting #'s sure its 710 HP @ 6100 its right were I wanted it to be.here is a video of the last pull we did.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5ChroMOEX4
(may take a little bit to come up)
also like to thank Allen at BEP for the dyno and tune and cant forget
Mad Dog Morgan for helping with the assembly......

FOURQ that was badass. Congrats on the build.
Its too bad you cant hear it well when he burries the throttle. When I dyno'd my motor I did it outside of the cell so I could here the sound better.
Would love to pull up next to you and have a run at it.

That was the first pull. The sound should be better on the last pull but he posted the wrong one. that pull was 682hp at 6100 with a little stumble getting into the secondaries. Lets not forget the trq, 624 @ 5100 was peak. all in all not bad for a 10/1 pump gas engine with twin 600's on it.
Q's on his way home to havizoo so it will be tomorrow before the good pull gets posted.
can't wait for mine.....

Shaun,
The peak numbers look good, I can't wait to see the power curve on her. I hope you feel the results were worth all work. It's not the amount of money spent that makes power, its the amount of thought in spending the money to make power.

just for all that are wondering what is in it.. its a 496 with all forged internals by eagle 4.25 lightened crank 6.385 H beam rods with L-19 bolts, JE 4.310 forged pistons 10.2-1 compression. AFR 325 heads stock as cast 2.30 intakes and 1.88 exhaust valves.
Cam is a custom one designed by Chris Straub of Straub technology
(cstraub69 on the boards) all I will say about the cam is its 689 lift. I have morell solid roller lifters and crain rockers. Victor tr-2 tunnel ram with 2 600's
so all in all its a 496 that makes 710 hp @ 6100 and 662.3 ft/tq @5100 all on 91 octane pump gas

Yes, DNE built mine. Do not know how much I have invested, but I can come close when guessing. One big difference in our motors though is mine is now 5 years old... :) Still runs strong!
Are you going to make it out next weekend?

How and the hell are you getting 100psi of oil pressure? What pump? What mods?

If your talking about these numbers below, those are from my motor which sounds like its pretty close to FOURQ's. I just put them up here to compare - not trying to start anything. The cam I had in this motor is a little smaller then FOURQ's. It was a CompCam with .680 lift. I have a different cam in it now.

Just watched the video and it totally reminded me of when my motor was on the dyno. Something is so strange about seeing/hearing a motor run like that and it is sitting still. So what was the highest RPM you guys ran it up to?

Just a question here.. Is it common practice to just shut the motor off after a pull as shown in the video?
Congrats FOURQ, It will be interesting to see what it does out on the water.
