I have a stock 454 with a 12c Berkeley pump.
In the water I am only getting a max RMP around 3g.
With the stock pump would probably have a A type impeller. I have read this limits RPM's.
Is 3grand some thing I should expect with this setup?
Thanks

460 jus getn it

Thanks3k sounds rather low. Im thinking with a stock 454 and an A impeller that 4300-4800.
You might want to check and see if anything is in the pump.

my 454 turns 4900-5000 (A) impeller with cam and headers. Stock you should see around 4500 or so.

Are you sure your Tach is reaing correct? 3K RPM's sounds really low.

Thats what I'm thinking. The Tach is off the boat scoots along pretty good...

Get a new tach ;) A good running motor (even stock) will push an A way past 3 grand. Your tach may just need to be set to your motor. Look at the back and see if it is set wrong.

Yep, check the tach. my 454 when stock spun a Berk A 4850 on a marginally-fed Berk F pump. Properly fed, about 4600.
