cyclone serious question......not just trying to get your goat.....what will give u faster times more air drag or water drag ? ref. the nose high attitude..what kind of times are u turning there? did i hear a new motor is in the works?

It's my belief, and i'm by no means an expert, that running the boat flatter is not only safer, but quicker. During the course of the weeked that pic was taken i ran the nose at three different levels, none of which affected the ET much. I did the same with my v-bottom rogers. Flying the nose never really made my boat quicker. Getting the entire hull out of the water with adjustments to the underwater hardware did though. the fastest pass i made the weekend of that photo there was 8.83 seconds and it was with the boat running flatter than what you are seeing in the photo. yes i am working on a new motor. CS19 and the other guys that have been racing tunnels longer than i have could probably give you better info than i have. This is just my short experience with the two boats i've raced.

I'm no expert, but I'm going to say that a boat running the nose higher in the air may not be having less water drag then a boat running there nose lower. Each boat is setup differently so your going to get differrent results. Intake position, shoe cut, ride plate position, motor position, bottom modifications, etc.... I think to answer the question there is just too many variables to really say one over the other.
You can run the nose up really high on a tunnel and have less water contact to the hull, but you have to remember your also putting the back of the hull deeper in the water then if you were set up to run really flat.
A good example of a quick and flat running setup is Roznos's 18' CP which is practically straight when he's running it down the track, and not to mention super quick.

Well ... I would have to agree with Mike here ... and if we look at three very sucessful jet boat racers (I could post more, but these are well known guys) ... they seem to ride flat & out of the water ... to nose high isn't always better ... IMO ...

Nice Boat. Was it you I talked to at the CBBB just up river from the casino or was that your son? I think it was your son because I remember asking if he wanted to pair up and he didn't want to race his dad's boat.... :)
Next time at the races Cyclone and I will stop by and say hello.

Yea I remember, Big river was actually my first time out with this boat& that location. Definitely worth going back. Committing to several trips this coming summer in the general area tossing a few & drooling at all the hot rods. Bryan

That boat will be a good addition to the BR hot rods that attract droolers... Many nice CP's in that area and yours will certainly fit in, by standing out!!!
