View Full Version : Best Looking Boats...?

Which boats do you think have the best lines?
I don't mean best gel coats, or colors, not best the for the money, not the most expensive...just talking plain out of the mold style?
I am of course, partial to Laveycraft. The way the windshield line lays back looks so good.
The Howard 25 Bullet looks good to me. Not so much the 28, it just seems too stretched. That same low and sexy look is on the old Ultra 24XS and the Cobra Razor line.
Harder to make a deckboat look good, so many look boxy or too round. Magic, Conquest are good, but I think Howard nailed it. Lavey's deck is just plain odd. They seem so busy, too many things going on.
I see that same low profile on the older Eliminator Liberty hull.
You see some boats that will have one section squared off, and another part rounded, they just don't flow right...design wise.
Opinions?

I have always liked the Nor-Tec, Skater, MTI boats, and the new Adrenaline has great looking lines as well.

The 25 is a built off of the 28, not the other way around

Either way the gunwales still look too stretched, if you don't like that term how about "too long" then....The 25er just seems better balanced, that's all.
I am not a big fan of the canopy style, they just look too busy, It goofs up the lines.
Its only my opinion, doesn't mean its right. :D

The classic cruisers (Schiada, Howard, Spectra) Have always been my cup of tea. I also love the lines of Skaters, MTI's, Spectre, etc...

Over the past 30 years it has to be Eliminator.
1. Everything from 18 and up
2. Always clean not too much bling
3. Always out front with designs

I am not really a canopy guy, but it is hard to beat the lines of the 30' Adrenaline, as previously mentioned. Cutting edge. It's doing 100mph just sitting still.

Another "hidden" hero is the 28' DCB Extreme. Similar to the Bullets. You just don't see many of them.

Are these boats I would necessarily own? No. But I do think they have great lines.
DCB Mach22... Very sleek. I have always liked the lines of that boat.
Howard 28 Bullet. Cleanest V around. The all red one with the silver windshield is unbelievable.
Elim 36 Daytona Coupe. Somthing about it looks so cool to me. Maybe it is the automobile looking windshield.
Boats I would own in a heartbeat that have the sickest lines around. MTI and Nortech Cats are my favorites with the Skaters close behind.

I have always liked the late 70s Southwind river tunnels with really crazy paint jobs. Super sleek looking.

The reason I got the Dana was the windshield line. It had me there. The windshield makes or breaks a boat for me. It has to be high enough to mean something but low enough to look sleek. A lot of boats just don't flow when it comes to the windshield.
I think Outerlimits has the best lines. It all just flows together so smoothly.

The Liberty hull was bought by Eliminator from Liberty boats. That hull was designed solely for circle jet racing. The hull turned out to be a great one for handling chop for a 19ft. semi vee.
You can't talk about great small boat designs without mentioning these three:
1.19ft. Eliminator Daytona-no words necessary
2. Gullwings- I like the CP (bias), ride in any gullwing with power and you'll know why they were designed
3. Sanger and Cole runner bottoms-different hulls but both icons of their time. The classic 1/4 mile warriors for V drives.

In 1996 I would have said the 25 Daytona was the best
looking boat ever, still might.
The Schiada 21 River Cruiser, yes I am a bit biased!
The newer Flat Deck Skaters, Byron Ashley's Phat Cat
Nortech, Gibson's MTI, the 47 GTX,
I also love the look of the new Boss Cat that we sell.
Howard deck is tough to not like also, and the 25.

One of the reasons we bought our boat was because of the awesome lines. I don't care what anyone says, that thing looks sick sitting in the water. I love the looks of a V with a big long fat nose and a short skinny rear end sitting real low.

i have only seen 5 of the mini's that fresno made and 3 are the ones you posted. 2 years ago i saw a nice original white and green metal flake one and many years before that i saw a white yellow and blue one if i remember right it had a blower motor in it. both i saw at millerton. they are beautiful though same with the cruiser....by far one of the best looking cruisers...hardly anyone has heard of them though. heard you still have the purple and white fresno my dad sold you...he always talks about trying to get it back but just dont have the room or time...my sanger mini is taking it all up :D (my alltime favorite boat)
by the way do you know how long they made the mini fresno? do you know how many of them they made? what about the cruiser? I just never see any fresno's anywhere so i'm curious.

Well I know of 2 other blown big block fresno mini v-drives plus 3 other fresno mini's of jet configurations not pictured, all beautiful boats. I believe Fresnos last production year under the original owners was 1988, but Fresno Boats although a very small operation is still in business(hobby) buy Jim Massie, Very nice guy. Say hello to your father.
Thanks,

did fresno only have the two models? is that what he is still making? the first boat in the 2 pics is yours right?

The first two pictures are the same boat and yes its mine, a 1988 Mini cruiser, The third picture is my brothers boat and the fourth picture was a boat sold a couple of years ago that belonged to a business owner in Clovis who died in an accident racing in the desert offroad,GRHS.
Heres a couple of Fresno's daycruiser's I've had and still own.
Also Fresno has a 26' Offshore, I believe only two were made, but Jim Massie of Fresno Boats has the 22 nighthawk which is an open bow. There's a couple of them at Bass Lake.(residents)

You know judging the best looking boat is tough. I think there are really several categories, boats on trailers, boats sitting still in the water or beached and boats running. I think the true test is to see them running thru some chop. At Desert Storm I got to video them all running thru the rough stuff and the smoothest running boats were the DCB's and MTI's. All the V's were bouncing and rocking side to side, some more than others and then there were the hoppers - Spectre's, Skater's (32's) and Nortech's all seemed to have some hop especially the Spectre's. Kind of screws up the lines unless they are running clean and smooth. Just my .02

I guess I'm biased as well because I painted this one, but D21 has done a nice job with the detail on his boat. It's a Dimarco

The one we saw looked more like the 24'? 1 of 4 in TN? Looked like a family; father, mother, 2 small children. They were parked at Prater Flats (Party Cove). We circled the entire boat in awe! I will have to find them again and snap some photos and stop and chat with them. Now I know a little history behind their boat. Thanks!

I maybe wrong , there could be 5 24's . Go to the website , I did some of the photographs for Tony . www.kazulinboats.com
One have to be up close to appreciate the boats .

Its amazing the kind of speed a vee bottom boat will pick up when you narrow the beam. Both of these boats run very fast without a whole lot of power.

Opinions? Schiada 21' RC is the best all round boat.

For me:
- 21' Schiada RC
- Hallett Vector
- 38' Donzi ZX
- Howard Sport Deck
