Helping next door neighbor change the intake manifold gaskett on his late 90's 350.
Figured using the Felpro gasket has to be better than stock Cheby right?
or:
Is their a better gasket to help prevent this problem from occuring again?
The felpro doesn't seem much better than the GM gasket, no worse either.
I know the Felpro head gaskets are the shiz.
Thanks for any tips. Were about to head back in,,, and don't want to back into hell.
He's struggling for $$ and we're saving him some $$ with this DiY project.
I know plenty on HB have seen this pain in the ass.
Thanks.

I have heard that a few dabs of silicone (in the right places) will help with the sealing issue.

I thought Earl's had some super-gaskets that were supposed to stop problems like this, but they make exhaust gaskets only. No intakes.
I would go with a nice FelPro set or Victor if you can't get FP. Like HH said, just put a thin layer of top shelf silicone around the coolant ports. It can't hurt. I think I would put a layer on the heads, set the gasket on, and put a layer on the gaskets.
Don't forget to put beads of silicone along the front and rear rails, or you'll be fixing an oil leak.

Its pretty hard to beat the stock GM parts on your daily driver, especially
the intake gaskets. Be sure to silicon the 4 corners where the gaskets meet.
