I'm really proud of what Jeff's done with his bike. He's too modest to show it off, so I'm going to :D
Here's what he started with last July. All he has done at this point is put on some V&H pipes

Then he took it all apart 3 weeks before the Laughlin River Run, but I forgot to take pics of it dissassembled!
The basis of this whole thing is that I didn't like riding on that thing they call a back seat. It was not only uncomfortable, but I felt unsafe. I was worried I was going to slip off or bounce off if he hit a bump. I wanted something with a sissy bar of some sort.
So Jeff agonized over how to get this on a model that didn't offer it, yet wanting to please his bride :D
He was going to create something handmade and attempted, but got frustrated. He found a kit, finally, but it was $3K for the back seat, regular seat, and sissy bar.
Last month, we got the new HD accessory book and I found something that I liked but it was for a FatBoy. He does some thinking and figuring. Goes down to the dealer in Corona, asks some questions. Ordered a FatBoy fender for it, got the new seats (one single and one double), and sissy bar, got them home, put them on and hated it! The seat was too big and he had to lean way forward to ride it. He had made new handlebars and wasn't going to be able to use them with the new seat(s). He never really liked apehangers due to the lack of control, but he realized that if he got some shorter ones, that might not be so bad and they would balance out the bike, which was now very heavy looking in the rear with the fat tire, seat and bar. He also picked up a new console to get rid of the chromed plastic stock one. Here is the result:
Taken apart, repainted and beginning to put back together

I think it looks absolutely fantastic. He even painted it himself. The pics don't do it justice. I'm sure he'll have some anecdotes to share later. :)

I have not tried yet, waiting to see if Screaming Pete still wants to ride out on Thursday.
Its not the look I ultimately wanted but I'm happy with the out come. When I bought the bike Angie said she would likely never ride so I wanted an old school bobber look. After one trip out with me on the bike that changed, I almost traded the bike in on a road Glide but changed my mind after riding a road king on our trip to the Florida Keys. I'm not completly done with the bike but It will be little stuff from here on out. After working on this bike I think I might keep an eye out for a totaled bike of some sort and build a custom. Bikes seem to be a lot easier then race cars. Of course I have three car projects backed up next to the shop so I will have to get a few cars built or sold before I can add another project.:D
Can't wait till the weekend.;)
