Need some HELP.....

Okay went to take out the feet from the last owners motor mounts and noticed some cracks in the stringer near the front and rear motor mounts. By the time i got them out the cracks got bigger. It looks like what you might call delamination but not sure. Was wonder do i just cut back the old fiberglass and roughen up the stringer and refiberglass. What would you use to cut the fiberglass. Or would i just need to replace it, is that something that i can do.. Any help would be great.

Cut into the glass with a die grinder but not into the wood. The important part is where the stringer attaches to the floor and your looks good. Glass it back up and sand it

Hey thanks Snake321. I have done some fiberglass work but not enough to know what kind of fiber (woven or choped) and what weight. Also are there beter resins then other, what are some good products. Are you sanding it to make it flat with the rest of the stringer.

Glass over it. And install a rail kit.

Should i cut it half way back then glass it just up to were it meets the old fiberglass. Or should i cut it back then add one layer to match up with the rest then one more layer of cloth to go all the way down to the hull and over lap a few inches.

If you go to lowes or Home Depot they have all the stuff you will need. It tells you how to mix it. And they also sell big 2x4 sheets of fiberglass. i would just clean up the serface real well and lay one big piece from the transome to where the carpet starts infront of the motor.
