Hi Guys,
It only took a year, but I finally have some pics of my flatbottom. It's a 1965 Hurricane that I found in Valencia. I had no real intention of picking up a boat as I was a little concerned about getting laid off, and was considering moving across the country to MA, but guess what ended up in my driveway?
You know how it goes.
Anyway, I hope you guys like my toy. I really appreciate all of the info I've picked up on this list and look forward to reading it every morning when I get to work. A special thanks to V-Drive Tom and FIAT48 for putting up with my newby questions.
Oh, and the hydro is the other thing I waste a lot of time on. Thought I'd throw it in there just for the hell of it.
Enjoy,
Jim

That is a beautiful deck. I have a Miller wood deck that I am restoring. Is that just a clear cloat over the deck or what is it?

Wood Decker looks great! What kind of wood is that? How much restoration did you have to do?

cdnguitarsnboats,
That wood deck gives me wood! Nice job! Where do you boat. Your profile doesn't give a location...

cdnguitarsnboats,
Cool, cool, cool. That looks to be in much better shape than the wood decker I picked up a few months back. Nice find.
I love that flat 3 spoke wheel too!

CDNGUITARSNBOATS, That was a damn nice find! You were smart for buying it. The customers ive had with those Hurricane hulls dig driving them. They handle very well. Call again and tell me more about the hydro too!! TOM..

Howdy,
Thanks for all of the comments, guys. I tend to find myself standing in the driveway looking at it an awful lot. Well, when I can at least. I live in Massachusetts, but I keep the boat up at my house in Montreal (hence the CDN part of my login name).
I can't take any credit for its condition, as I literally have not done anything other than put more coats of wax on it than it will ever really need.
The wood is mahogany that, by the appearance of it, is probably from Honduras or something, because it almost looks like rosewood or walnut. The way I describe it to people who've never seen the boat is that it's like someone built a piano, then dumped a 350 into it.
The wood has a thin layer of glass over the top, and looks like it's been cleared over that. There's actually a crack in the deck in front of the steering wheel, but it's where two pieces of glass edge up on each other.
I'm thinking of refinishing the boat in about a year, just to keep it pristine (I thought a deep, candy wine red would look good). For something that was built it '65, I plan on treating this thing like a classic Vette.
The only thing I can't say I'm in love with is the trailer. I've always wanted a nice tandem set up, but good luck finding that in the north east.
Are any of you guys out on the east coast?
Jim
