1978 hull, Art Carr t-400 tranny, Casale C500 v-drive, polished tranny cooler, braided lines, elec cav plate, steel running gear, Comp tandem trailer, etc.
Boat is in pristine condition but needs a new BBC long block. I bought it from the kid of the original owner that had it in a garage at Havasu for over 15 years. Total garage queen... The kid went through the motor and the cam went flat. The motor that is in the pic is included but is basically a shell (no rods or pistons). Everything in the pic goes. 10qt v-drive pan, valve covers, freshly beaded intake, carb, ignition, starter/alt, cam driven pump, exaust, etc. The motor/tranny plates were just beaded and are ready to be polished or coated. You really need to see this hull to see how clean the original gel is, it's near perfect (and I'm picky). The seats are in good condition but are an ugly color of blue and I was planning on recovering them.
If you're looking for a clean v-drive cruiser, I don't think there are many much cleaner than this. Changing projects so this needs to go.... $9500 obo

Thanks 76anthony, I wish I could keep it but 2 boats is 1 to many (well not really, it's never to many.....) This thing will make someone a sweet cruiser. I don't say to many boats are in pristine condition, but this one is...... Speedin' Ian, sent you a PM.......

My gf's boat is the same way. Her pops bought it in 71 and helped with the layup at eliminator. I'm not a v-drive guy but its got a forward /reverse casale, 460. It's been sitting for 5-6 years since he passed away and last winter we brought it home from havi and took it to some local spots a few times. It needs some work and I just dont have the cash or time for now, but its pretty clean for the use it got from 71-01.
sorry for the HI-jack but its a free bump!! and I dont think she will ever sell it, that and the 56 chevy will be with her forever, and she most likely will hold onto the truck too.

new price $9,000. Goes on e-bay and in the trader tommorow. Nobody has a BBC layin around that is looking for a clean v-drive??????? I figured this would go fast..... Might be interested in trade for either a 4-5 seater rail or another boat but would prefer to just sell it outright.

I'll be at the river this weekend but I'm going to try to look at it next weekend if you still have it. I actually have a brand new 540 thats been sitting in the garage for the past year.

Sounds good Ian. A nice pump gas 540 would be perfect in this thing, and based on the little 454 I had in it, the top gear would be perfect for the torque of a 540.............. Boat rode great and really responded huge to the plates. I love the shape of the RC'ers, they look great in the water..... The bottom on this thing is increadible. Must not have ever touched the beach in 29 years!!!! It's almost like it just acme out of the mold.... Let me know next week.......................

is the boat still for sale

Have somebody that wants to leave a deposit and then pick it up in a few weeks (lives a ways out of town), but you know how those deals can go. Basically yes, I still have the boat............ If I hear back that the guy wants it and is willing to leave a good size deposit, then I've gotta give him a chance. But until then, it's still available. Saw a post in v-drive section talking about the performance potential in these things and some people were concerned about putting big power in them without some set up changes. Thing ran hard for me with a low compression N/A 468 and I didn't feel any handling issues. But then again, what the hell do I know, I'm a jet guy..................

Saab, not sure if the bottom is the same on your g'f's boat, but do have any bad handling characteristics that concern you?? This thing felt stable as a rock to me...... One of the guys that posted and said he had some bad handling issues I talked to when he was selling his boat. He told me the boat had glass problems where the transome meets the bottom and shaft issues. not sure if that casued his problems or not. Had a champion v-drive as I recall.................

I took her boat out 4-5 times and it rode great, felt like a tank too me. Top speed was 45 maybe 50. The 460 was built at blair's in pasadena and was a dependable torque motor for skiing. Her boat was converted to the open bow in the mid 90's due to the gel cracking (it had a full wood bow). I was going to use that for a river cruiser but most of my friends go to blythe, and that sits a lil deep for me to feel safe. The gel coat is good except for over the wood where the windshield was removed. The reason I really stopped using it was we went to the local lake and I was getting rushed at the ramp and didnt put the plug in, trailer was parked and I pulled the engine cover just to check and there was about 8 inches of water in the thing, I beached it and bent the shaft, 600 bux later and after really looking at the glass at the transom I decided it need more work than I was willing to put into it at that point. We took it out one time after that and the prop shaft log was leaking pretty good, the rudder shaft was leaking, and it looked a lil weak to me where the transom meets the bottom. This was the first boat I ever worked on so I dont know if I was over-reacting or it was no big deal. Now that I see other v-drives out they all seem to leak everywhere hers does. As far as handling though it was solid, goin 40 crank it hard and it would lay over and turn good. Took wakes very good also. I am comparing this to my 450 lb. tunnel hull so like I said, to me it was the difference between a suburban and a camaro. If that helps at all... or maybe I'm just rambling.

Bump.............. New price $8500............ Buddy just called and pulled a fresh pump gas hydraulic 454 out of another v-drive complete carb to pan. Will sell that for another $2500 if interested. That would be a complete deal for 11K with a fresh motor........ I can't believe an increadibly clean classic cruiser like this is not taken yet!!!

Dmontzsta, you aint kiddin..... It's amazing to me how slow things are going considering it's spring. I honestly thought this thing would sell really fast once I got over the pain of deciding to let it go. I think the first one that shows up to see it in person will end up towing it home. I'm sure there are some increadibly clean boats out there but this thing has to rank right up there in the tops with other boats of the same era....
How many super clean classic v-drive cruisers are left out there for sale?
