Huge Accident.... 40 east @ Newberry Springs

Just heard that there was an accident on the 40E at Newberry spring. The freeway is shut down do to 5 fatalities, one motorcycle went down and took out four other motorcycles....

Its easier when its some anonymous person.....but it will turn out to be a friend or acquaintance of someone here I would bet.

That sucks :( That is why we quit riding out a couple years ago. WAY too many close calls. Some people might talk shit about us trailering the bikes out there, but just way to high of a risk.
Prayers for the families and friends of the people involved...not a good start to the weekend.

Loking at this, it appears there is one dead, with one seriously injured and one with unknown injuries.

been riding all my life getting ready to hit the big 50. i have heard and seen to many things like this when you get a group of bikes together. all it takes is one small mistake. i agree about doing the trailer thing. it seems it happens every year either at laughlin or the reno run. it sucks the big one someones family is affected real bad:(

Just talked to someone who was there. I guess his back tire on his bike blew. It was a guy from San Pedro around 55 yrs.. They took him in the helicopter, don't know how he ended up. Guess his brother was there with him too. don't know his name. Hope he's ok....

I am a motocrosser and dirt bike rider and have for some 40 years of my life. I got a Harley back in December.
I have ridden the street very little. I now have about 2300 miles on this bike.

The street, with the cars, the speeds, and if you ride in a group. You make a mistake... or one in your group makes a mistake..... your life can end. These bikes are way to heavy to do much with if a mistake happens.
If you tow a boat and go by a bike rider... the winds do effect the rider. Big trucks effect the riders... even if your buddy is ahead of you the wind is moving the rider around.
Street riding is very dangerous. Some people take riding lightly. No helmets (wtf) Drinking?
I am planning on attending this event that I am sure this group was headed to.
I am sad to hear this news. God Speed this group of friends

play safe out thier this weekend and keep a heads up. i just got back from lunch and met up with a couple of other riders today. we rode our bikes out to point loma for the view and a jeep come racing down a hill right at us out of nowhere. give yourself plenty of room and don't drink and drive, boat or ride. so we don't have to read about more fallen brothers or sisters on monday

And yes I take extreme offence when someone takes death, weather you know the person or not, as a joke.

Very sorry to hear, myself and a couple friends will be heading out fri morning. Just curious about the "way too high of a risk" thing, I hear about and see all kinds of accidents on the 40 or rice road etc. involving trucks, trucks pulling boats etc. but its not going to stop me from going to the river. Also I know of several accidents on the river itself with boats, or wakeboarding etc. I somewhat understand what you are saying but we all take risks everyday. Just because you are a trailer QUEEN (ok I just had to say it! really it was just a joke, I had to Im sorry!)
