The difference in the Havasu Race is that the Coast Guard will be on hand monitoring the event, as it is operating under a Coast Guard permit.
Any blatant safety violations will be dealt with. If it's an individual there's a good possibilty that they will be explaning their actions in front of a Federal Judge.

yup, my only issue during the big cat was that when myself and another boat are 20 feet apart and a nortec splits us down the middle the sprays us down with their prop wash, because he was 5 feet off my boat and then when the prop wash cleared there is a guy in the water 50 yards in front of us floating.... Thats not cool

I've been in only one poker run at Havasu (1994). I really don't remember anything other than a few basic instructions.

Daycruiser, since poker runs are not a race and instructions are given out at the drivers meeting about safety and basic nav rules that ALL boaters should know, there are no special qualifications to drive to the card stops. Poker runs are supposed to be a family fun event...Yes we at Desert Storm have signals planned and they have worked well in the past. Jim, Art and Craig have spent a lot of time and effort on safety. I have been on only a few other runs, but this one is the most complete regarding expectations and safety (including OSS at Mead).
