I need something bigger than a B to keep the Rs down on my new 455. Anyone have one sitting around?

You missed out-there were a couple of stainless A's on ebay a while back. Somebody posted about it and I picked one up. I paid $400. They are out there.

malcom, you shouldn't need a A empeller on a jac.w pump, with a B and a good pump you should only turn 4400-4500 rpm with A you will probably turn 40000 with a good olds, i had a A in my 18 spectra wj about 425hp bb chevy and it went 4100 -4200rpm had to cut it down, a jac w B emp is like a berk A empeller, Jim

My little 403 Olds turns my B to 4800 now. I didn't want to have the 455 running over 5000. I'll try the B first anyway and see what it pulls to.

Oh yeah, I already got my Glenwood logs today. Kinda nice when the stuff gets shipped from Portland. ;)
Already wore my arms out polishing on one. They are the stepped outlet risers too, so I can cut them off and run 4" hose and tips. Should sound pretty good for through transom.

Get one of those Mothers polishing balls. I got a Mini, about 3" diameter, comes with an extention too, $30. Suppose to work good. I hate polishing by hand. My hand shakes when I pick up a beer like I have Parkinsons.

malcolm, either your tack is off or your pump needs some help, or it is not loading the pump at top end, how fast are you going, Jim

What did you used to have for exhaust besides the OT headers?

He's right On the B empeller, Iam running a b in mine and have no problem running with the Berks. And plus on a stock Olds and an A you won't be happy youll notice a big drop in speed.Just something to think about.Try some loader grates and wear ring.Ive done alot of work with mine and tryed alot of stuff on my WJ good luck with yours.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting those low numbers. Even with the A scale on the Berk chart, 400 hp is 5 grand. I've heard that the Jacuzzi B is more like an AB in a Berk. I know this pump probably isn't the tightest one around, but I don't think it's that far off.
When I first got the boat running, I put in this 403. It was totally stock, they were only rated at 200 hp. It would turn my old pump to 4200. Years later I decided to upgrade a bit and put a cam and early heads on it, that got me up to 4600 with a different pump I found on Ebay. I tried some headers and got it up to 4800. That pushed the Spectra up to 53. I thought that was pretty good for a small block.
