The boat is ready for Polyester Primer. This product is like bondo in a gun. It is catalysed and hardens like a rock but is a good high solid build. I will show you the after photos tomorrow. This boat was as wavy as my ex-mother in laws ass. It was gel coated three times. We took off a ton of gel to get the boat failry flat. Should give us a real good base to block on. Apparently the guy who gelled it is in prson now. I guess he worked at Rayson. He should be in jail for this gel job period.

Maxi says he's gonna man up and put a GN 305 bullet in that thing for me. Actually it gets 605 inches of ball busting Chebrolet. Got a new Dart block with Brodix 2X Extras CNC'd heads with a Sonny's intake with a Dominator on pump gas. My other brother Lou is buying the motor. This fat bastard can't afford a sick ***** a bean sammich. Anyway, the motor builder says the bullett otta put out about 800 ground poundin, axle breakin, ear twistin, gut wrenchin, ball splittin Horsepower. Just enough for my drivers to go to the front in the Parker 300. Can't Wait for Burley...so we can drink and be somebody. Right Maxi?????

Maxi your asking RCL way to many technical questions about his ride (what degree v-drive is in that piece of shiat). He just figured out the difference between a spray can and a paint gun. Looks like the shop is real busy with all of his personal stuff....Race cars & and wanna be GN boat. How many guys do you have working on that sled Lou?.

I dunno Ben, judging by the pictures, measurements, the apparent angle of that strut and spelling I'm pretty sure Ol' Rattle Can must've been dippin' into his BARRELL  of STOLI and turned his MASTERCRAFT over instead of the RAYSON!!!

NICE!!!!!! I try to do something right and I'm told to go get a dick reduction in length and maybe pick up some Cheeseburgers. You guys are fricken amazing. I call Maxi yesterday for some info and he would'nt stop laughing when I told him Sammons was helping me. I call Billy about a nice yellow and he asked me what's available in Krylon....then laughs until he pukes. I call Rankin for the help I couldn't get outta Maxi and he laughs till he hangs up. Everybody gets on here and throbs about all the help they get and how wonderful all you people are...I call Bull$hit on all of it. I can't help it if I flipped the MasterCraft over instead of the Rayson....it was late and I had a few pops with the boys...I grabbed the wrong fricken boat...get over it!

OK Guys and Gals...ya wanted updates and pictures. After extensive search and several conversations with the GN Guru's....no not Pineapple, we came to the conclusion that all the underwater gear is wrong and misplaced. GREAT....I love throwing shiat away. SO away we go on filling holes and making it strong again. Ordered all new stuff from Bergeron and we will use all drop thru stuff. The bottom has been blocked with a long board and is ready for graphite after install of gear...

We have continued our quest to make this the fastest GN in Boise...LOlOlol. We weren't sure we would have to fill the shaft hole in the bottom, but after presicion measurements....well some loose calculations, we discovered that we would indeed need to fill the shaft hole. Here are some pics.

I know some of this seems redundant, but what I'm trying to show you is that it is not that hard. This process could be done in anybody's garage with minimal cost. The underwater gear obviously is the biggest expense. If you have any questions...please feel free.

I see that I have made myself unable to be taken seriously. I am in the process of building what might arguably be the fastest GN known to man. (somewhere around 155 mph) I have worked hard to attract some of the best minds in the business. Just some of the names...Jim Anderson, Roman1, Mouzer, Yoghurt, the Nutt bros, Kim Hanson, just to name a few. Then you ass clowns get on here and make a mockery of my "how to" project. I was asked to post pics and keep people informed on how "Project 155" is coming. I would appreciate a little proffesional courtesy, if you will. I know I have created quite a stir with this little diddy. Some of the names that have been calling with great interest....Sammons, Maximus, Rankin, Scarlatta, Billy Burgendorfernoggin, Davey B,. Dossangers, Waldrip, Gordy, and the list goes on. If I can now get back to business, I will post some more pics later this afternoon.

OK, Is everybody ready to get back to business at hand? I thought so... As you can see by the photo's the bottom has been "precision gound to tolerance" or to the commoner..."blueprinted" if you will. All low spots have been filled and the bottom finely massaged with 180 grit paper on a 36" flat board. The hair piece, (toupe) or sewage waste, whickever you prefer, has been removed from the strut area. The bottom is now ready for a coat of catalyzed primer. This is done to seal the open gel coat. After we mount the underwater gear we will then coat with Speedcoat.

Hello all you onlookers...It's time to get back on the GN boat. We pulled it in the shop and flipped it back over. I decided to finish the inside with gelcoat and Flow Coat. We discoverd some areas that need attention prior to gel. First off is finishing the strut area and finishing that off along with the shaft log area.

We found some delam and wood rot around some nuts that had been glassed into the floor for gas tank mounts. We ground them down and we are running a fan in the area to dry the wood out before we repair them. We are also filling all the holes in the stringers and I will show you how we are gonna do that..

Next up is filling all the holes in the stringers. Stringers are in really good shape but we are changing the whole basic set-up of this boat. I think its important that the dowels fit real tight in the holes. Some might not agree but we drilled the existing holes to a little smaller than 1/2". Bought 1/2" hardwood dowels and used carpenters glue to hold them solid. You can buy 3/8" dowels but they were sloppy in the holes. Next we will grind them off and glass over them. We are kind of in a holding pattern on further work untill we can get the moisture to stop seeping from the holes in the shaft log area. We are running a fan in the boat 24/7 until we know that we have the boat 100% dry.

Hey RCL,
I am getting ready to fill the shaft hole and everything else but the rudder hole in the bottom of my Aquacraft Shark. My thought is to grind and sand the the floor area around the skeg, shaft and strut areas. Then glass over the holes with cloth and laminating resin. Then flip the boat and fill these areas with mat and resin and a mat patch over each area. Let dry completely and sand smooth. Am I on the right track? Where do I find the primer you used on the GN? As far as I can tell the bottom of my boat has never been touched till now. The seam along the keel is still very visible.
Thanks for any advice,
Kurt

OK students, today we are grinding off the dowels and glassing over them. This is pretty self explanatory with pictures. Make sure you have ground yourself enough of an indent that you have room for the glass. We used 3" cloth tape and put two layers on it. We still have moisture coming up from one hole. So we did not glass the shaft log area yet. We filled the strut bolt holes with EZ 100. This is the same two part compound that we glued the sideboards in the Riviera boat. Very good stuff and can be used for lots of different applications. After the EZ dries we will glass over it with Fiberglass mat.

Why do you prefer cloth over matt in this situation, Lou?
For holes like this, I've always used a mixture of course saw dust and resin, mixed as dry as possible. Did you chose dowels to save weight?
I love tech threads. You never know when you might learn something.

Tonk..you are on the right track. To fill a hole you can do two things. Take resin and mix in fiberglass mat that is shredded. Or take dura glass (fibergalss bondo) mix in some resin to thin it out and then mix the shredded mat in also. Make a paste that is thick and full of substance. Shove it in the hole and make sure you have no air pockets. Then grind that off when it hardens and put two good layers of mat only over that. Top and bottom. That should do it..

Tom, I just used dowels because it seemed the easiest. I had the cloth and to be totally honest the mat probably would have been better. But in this particular case the stringers are getting the full wrap of aluminum. Dave Sammons and I decided that would be the best case as we want to run the 300 with it. He feels that if we tie the entire install together we will have a stronger boat. If you were just using the usual stringer washers then I would use mat....good question. I would also say that if you were using any kind of aluminum backing plates on the outside of the stringers then the cloth is more than adequate...

The fianl glass was applied to the shaft hole and all the holes have been filled, glassed and sanded smooth. We will now sand off the last glass patch and then apply a polysester fill primer. This application is like spraying resin with a thick solid body that flows out and fills like 10 coats of primer. The cool thing about this product is that it is very hard and strong. When I purchase the product I will take a picture so you can see what it is. Very handy product on a boat restore. If you have a wavy area that just doesn't seem to want to straighten out you can spray this on and block it and it will be flat as a pancake. It is not a product you can use on the inside if you are giving the floors a natural finish. In our case we are gel coating the inside with a color. Here are some pics.

You keep talking about this poly primer. I am getting ready to flip my boat and fill every hole and prep the bottom for paint and speed coat. This stuff sounds like the kind of product I can use to make it perfect. I figure to spray a good primer and top it with black as was done with Jerry's boat and use the black as a guide coat to smooth it out.
I am getting ready to buy supplies so any help will be appreciated.

Sorry Kurt, I was gone all last week and they sprayed it while I was gone. I will post pics later. The product is made by several maufacturers. We used a product made by OMNI. It is number MP 243. The product description is Polysester Primer. Buy the catalyst also. It is the same as you use with Resin. This requires a large orifice on your gun. It is heavy build and works great. Let it cure for a couple of days before you get back on it.

That seems to happen to a lot of fella's around here... I remeber a good buddy of mine bought a brand new canary boat which he thought would be fun to run in the K class... that was like 10 yrs ago & if I am not mistaken we have not recieved the thing yet? I am afraid that boat racing will have been extinct when this thing arrives & it will need to be used as a crack cooker...

want the real date? go back and read post 100 and to think I got slammed for posting that. Also, if I catch RCL or Sammons near my boat with a tape measure again (second time already) I will personally use it to measure the I.D. of both your colons!:D

You know when you hear blatant lies like this it makes my blood run cold (colder than normal). I probably could have had the deal done but we dondt have the aluminum back from the annodizer. The fins haven't been "blueprinted" the shaft log has not been "guide coated" all this stuff takes time. You have to be patient or I will move you to the bottom of the list again. Now this is just a friendly warning you are next in line behind RCL, VDV, and K Boat King. Besides the engine has not even been Dynoed or sunk even once yet. Once the hull is properly cured and the stars are in the correct location we can start. I will call you when it is time, in the meantime F.O.

You wouldn't remember, You were drunk! HAhahahHAhaha
Yes, My brothers were the ass clowns and I was the studious one that was cooking and making sure that Rick King was attended too. I also was responsible for all the adult entertainment...the dancers and such. Next year I plan on changing my duties arond a little bit so I can enjoy the fruits of the vine, if ya know what I mean....I would like to have a drink once in awhile.

Lou........why polyester primer vs epoxy primer on the exterior(difference)? Why primer/paint the inside vs "flowing it"? And by the way, how do you "flow" the inside? Thanks......(more pic's please).
