Seems like most jet boats came stock with 454, 460 or 455 Olds, but why not Pontiac 455's or 440's?? Seems like a SD 455 would be a great jet boat engine. How about those big Cad motors?? Anybody running anything other than the usual 3??

Think if you were building the boats.
I'll wager that IF the other engines were even available as aftermarket purchase, they were not in an acceptable price range compared to whatever Chevy/Ford/Olds was wanting.
Could well be that since most of the engines I am aware of in new boat trim came from marine setup companies such as Hardin and Indmar, you bought whatever THEY offered, which may well be directly related to the above price reasons.
Just speculation on my part.

I've seen some Chrysler I/O's. And I've seen lots of boats with a 360 in late 80's. And even a few 340's in small jets from early 70's. Never seen a factory big block yet though
