My family and I are going to do a family boat realated vacation in July. The new part of this is we have decide to include the Grandparents. So there will be 8 adults (youngest 30, oldest 70's) and Two 10 year old little lady's (they both think they are adults). We we're thinking about somewhere in Cental California all the way up to Shasta our hearts are not set on any one place. A house boat was our first idea but now we are thinking a vacation rental home for a week on one of the lake might be a better idea. Does anyone have a sugestion for us? Or maybe a line on a house boat or Rental home on the water? Thanks

If you are thinking of houseboating on Shasta, Oroville, or one of the other lakes in the northern Sierra Foothills, I'd make a decision and look to book something soon. Most of the rentals boats on those lakes book up pretty early in the year.
Shasta would be my first choice, been on both and just like it better.

Try lake Tahoe...
The weather is beautiful and not scorching hot!
Most of the houses in the keys have a docks..
Your not far from the Casinos, either by car or boat...
The golf course is not to bad either...
There is a lot of variety for all..
I don't have a link to forward you, but I am sure you can find something on superpages.com
Enjoy!:D

I like shasta. Big lake, lots of stops and sights to see. Elevation does not mess with your boat as much as Tahoe and the water is warm unlike Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe is nice but can get very nasty with lots of chop. Not good for small boats. If you have a ski boat or hydro or jet, take a look at Lake Don Pedro or New Melonies Res. Both have house boat rentals and are great for camping, water skiing, tubing and relaxing. Good luck:)

SO we decide on A house boat on Don Pedro or a Vacation Rental with Dock on Tullock. So does any one out there have a rental on Tullock avail 6-22/ 6-29. I'd rather give my money to someone from here. Thanks Forrest

I would check very closely before committing to a rental at Tulloch, very small compared to Pedro or Melones, large 5mph zones, and can be very congested. Shasta and Oroville are nice choices also, Bridge Bay at Shasta is nice, and Oroville has floating campsites available for a change of pace.

I haven't been to Tulloch in years and you helped me remember why. But it might still work out good for all the family. I would rather do a house boat at Don Pedro New Malonies or McClure. Any one know of a "good deal" (HAHA). At those lakes.
