Charter Cable has just made phone service available in our area. The price seems great ($119/mo for a package including cable TV, high speed cable internet, and premium phone service incl. voice mail, caller ID, etc.
I currently pay close to that for just the cable TV and internet, so it would be like getting the phone service for free.
Don't see any "cons" yet to making the switch - any input?
I can even keep my existing phone number...

That price seems below average to me....
You have to break it down to figure out what you are paying for each component.
Internet? what is the speed up/down & price
TV? HD ? DVR? Movie Channels? price?

Phone still works if power is out. Charter provides battery backup and pulls generators out to sites to keep phones up in this area. Just need to make sure you have a UPS on your router/modem.

Thanks all
So the back-up battery is installed in your home?
I also heard that fax machines may have a problem with cable-based phones too. True?

Mine gets installed this week, it is only $30 more on my cable bill vs the $35 basic phone service plus the bill, toll charges. I hope it works out well !!! I love to Save $$$.
