Looks like I'm going to be headed to Quartzite within the week to ink a truck wash deal.
Anyone know much about the place? Is there anything a 20 something might find amusing there? Until a few days ago I had never even heard of the place and still know nothing about it other then lots of RV'ers pass through.

ok, here's the sccop. Average age is about 65, Chief of police is a cool guy, lots of old age drama, big, ongoing swap meet, one or two cheap azz hotels, truck stop X2, two exits off the I-10 and approximately 25 miles from colorado river.

Boozer i hope your not trying to put an RV wash in q town, those snowbirds(cheeeeeepppbastards) can wash thier whole motorhomes for a quarter and a gallon of water and have change left for a can of Keystone light (w/ght)

True definition of a "blink you eye town". Blink and you'll pass it right up.
Great place if you like rock collecting. My mother has picked up a few gorgeous stones from a small shop there.(quartz)

I think its a kick to visit for a half day in the winter to see all the antiques of all varieties. In the summer, its like visiting Ludlow for fun...:D

I drove through there yesterday on the way home from Havasu to San Diego. It takes all of a minute to get from one end of town to the other and being a female, driving alone I would actaully be afraid to stop there. It reminds me of the movie The Hills Have Eyes.

First of all, you need to spell it correctly. Quartzsite. The original name WAS Quartzite, named after the mineral, but the guy that submitted the application for the Post Office back in the 1800s misspelled it with the "s" in it, and it's stuck ever since.
Wyatt Earp ran for Justice on the Peace back in the early 1900s, but came in 3rd out of 5 running.
This time of year about 2,000 people live there. Winter has up to 1,000,000 people within 15 miles of the place. Snowbird capital of the world. Best place to buy and sell crap in the winter. Nothng but swap meets and RV parks.
Let me know when you're getting in. We'll do lunch. :D
