Since real estate isn't the best choice for investing currently, WHERE WOULD YOU INVEST $$$? FOR SHORT AND LONG TERM?

I met a guy who is using this service to invest. He started with $40K and has profited over $100K in the last 8 months. I haven't had the chance to research it yet, but if anyone knows about it I would like to hear more. Here's the link:

Ditto! We did very good on property last year and things are looking good for this year.
Alot of service companies to the oil and gas industry look promising- just do alot of research prior to buying in. There are some good companies up here to invest in with more on the rise. There are a few mismanaged companies that are going to be for sale shortly and their stocks will get some good activity once they are back on track.

After opening up their free trial window and the visa/mastercard logos appear, I would not trust it.

I'm always hesitant on investing in something when I hear " I know a guy who" When I hear "I just" from a friend it gets my curiosity up.

That's why I posted it here. I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it. The guy wasn't trying to sell me on it or anything like that. I just asked him what he was doing for $ now that he sold his mixer truck. That is how the conversation was struck up.

I have heard that some people do well on some of those deals..just none I know well enough to value their opinions ..so I tend to stay away from them. Not saying it isn't viable..just not for me.

This is what I love about opinions. If the market is low right now and people need to dump property doesnt that make the perfect investment sense?? I have been building new houses for a while and havent lost a penny yet. Im starting to buy used now too. I bought the house that I live in now for 100K under the listing price. Makes sense to me!!!!

In my world RE is ALWAYS a good investment. You just need to buy smart like in anything else. Maybe you just need to look outside of CA. But who am I to say.......:)

Kevin, who says its a bad time to invest in real estate? Gotta love these price scares if you are an investor. People (some) get in over their heads on their primary residences, panic and take lo-ball offers to get out of bad loans.
What better scenario can investors hope for??

Gold and silver should be considered a hedge or speculation, not investments.
I am wary of international stock funds, I would rather buy an American company with an international trade.
Real estate prices are down, that means it is a great time to buy. The number of buildings in this country might double in the next 25 years.
Stocks are up. I would consider a no load S&P index fund.
Good luck.
