I'm thinking about trading in my 2005 Ford F-250 on a new 2008 and I was just wondering if anyone on here has one and if they like it. Would I be better off sticking with my 2005? I am talking about the diesels.

Talked to a guy who had a 2008 and he couldn't stop raving about it. Said it was the best tow vehicle he has owned. Not sure what he had prior.

Cool your heals before buying this one. I have a buddy that bought the new '08 and he loves it. But then again he also stated last week that they had an update for the cpu. The said something to the effect that the particulate filter is getting too hot and blowing flames out the back of this rig. He also read on the Ford forums that someone had this rig and the unit just completely lost power. The check engine light came on and he was instructed to turn off the vehicle wait 10 minutes then restart. If the Check engine light came back on, then he was to immediately shut down the unit and have it towed to a ford dealership for repairs. That may be why Ford gave the owners of this new truck a $1000 loyalty check. My firend hasn't had any problems but then again he said he loves the truck. I would do a bit more research into this before I plopped down $40k plus. Not trying to stop you but this is the information I have heard within the last week. Otherwise Ford did a good job on the redesign of this. Good Luck.

My buddy was hot for his and had a $50,000 diesel on order but backed out because of all the issues they're having with it. That, and the fact you have to remove the entire cab of the truck to complete any service more envolved then an oil change.
He ordered a Duramax instead.

Here are some good sites to read on the new 6.4, take what most say here with a grain of salt most is just here say any how, go directly to the people that have them good luck. Remember that Ford is the only one to meet the 08 emissions on there diesel engine GM, Dodge will have to do it when there 08's come out so I would bet there will be some fine tuning on the motor.

Whats up Dave? really I havent heard many issues on the new 08 other then the flames but that was 3 out of like 15,000, in any case with any new motor first year issues will arise, just the nature of the beast, now the 6.0 thats a coin toss. Good ol Cali dictates what the emissions will be and all manufactures build then to Ca specs kinda sucks. It will be ineresting
to see what the other guys have in store for the 08 emissions.

I Have a new F450 4x4 with the 6.4 . Great truck so far its loaded with all the options. I have maybe 3500 miles on it and its getting 9.4 mpg. Also have a 2003 f250 4x4 with the 6.0. that gets around 17mpg. It had a lot of problems for the first two years but i keep it around. the power of the new 450 is great but the 4:88 gears really keep the speed down to mid 70's at 3,000 rpm's. thats the only real draw back, No 90mph runs down the 40

I have 3000 on mine and love it. Towed the boat with this weekend and was amazed at the power and brakes. The truck I gave up was a 04 F150 5.4 nice truck as well just not enough umph to handle the boat.
I hope as this thing gets a few more miles on it the millage will go up. Curently around town about 13.5 hwy is 15.
Everyone that rides in the truck is amazed at the interior. Ford has done a great job here.
No plans to modifie or upgrade as I have grown out of that phase, just leave it alone and drive it!
No regrets with the purchase.

Ill get some later, its getting a goose neck hitch installed right now.
As for that video, ya that one had to have an injector issue or something cause mine sounds nothing like that. (No flames either)
My only gripe I guess is the low fuel mileage but I didnt expect it to get great mileage anyways. I mean, it will tow as much as my 5500 did and it gets about 3 or so mpg more. (About 11.5 highway at 60mph) Oh and the ride is night and day between them. That 5500 rides like a f'n tank. (airride front and rear)
If you get one and do alot of 70-80mph freeway speeds I'd either invest in a gearvendors 2 speed for it, or get the 4.30's instead of the 4.88's. I opted for 4.88's since we tow most the time.

I was told by a dodge salesman that ford is switching to a cumins diesel next year. Anyone hear that. I want one of these too, but I have a hard time giving up my 7.3 excursion.

Doubtful in the F250-F350, even though it would be a great move for them.
You can get the Cummins in the F-550:D Kinda makes you wonder, don't it:confused:

There won't be any Cummins in Super Duties, Navistar is locked in as the diesel supplier until 2012. Oh yeah, and buy one (or two). The improvements are also pretty extensive over the outgoing model.

I love the King Ranch interior with this color. Matches inside and out so well. Ride is very good for a F450.

Well I pulled the trigger and traded in my '05 for a new '08 this past weekend. What a truck! Best decision I've made in long time.

My old man has one and loves it. He says it does a much better job pulling his bigass 5th wheel trailer than his '04 did.
There are some pretty cool features that come in handy pulling a trailer :)
The goddam radiator and tranny cooler in that thing are about the size of a frickin billboard, yo
A big fuel cooler too.
A BFD out here in the summer.

also.If theres ANY issues towards the rear of the motor, turbo included the ENTIRE cab of the truck has to be removed. My ford techs tell me for a 2 hour repair it will take over 1 week to do the work. Some dealers cant even do the work, they dont have the means of lifting the cab off

The greatest thing is when the salesman started it to take me on a test drive I told him he must not of heard me when I said I wanted a diesel. He responded "it is". Very, very quiet.
