If it's a 73, Ls6 heck yea. That's the motor of choice. Didn't take much too get 500 ponies out of it to begin with. My dad had one in our delta 88. My brother raced the local dodge dealers son, he had a cop car with the 440 intercepter motor in it, spanked his a$$ and bad. Rare motor for sure and a keeper. That stupid X sister in law rolled the 88 too. That stupid C. If he would have stayed out here in Az another 6 months that would have been my car. Oh well I ended up with a pontiac with the 400 small block, stang killer motor.

Squzme, I think so actually I know so since I owned that damb thing. What do you think they use to make the 383?? Take a 350 and use a 400 rebuild kit.
There are several overlaps between the small block and big block engines in Chevy's history, for instance, the 396 big block, whereas the 400 is a small block.
Hpe that helps you some!
You have a puter, do a search hom-e.

Oh there was a guy in phoenix around 7th and Inian school that was hording the things. Oh yea and I worked at the GM plant in Upstae NY that built the pistons for it. Gee's almost forgot that.

Essentially the only difference is the physical size of the block itself. The 427 refers to the capacity of the cylinders. In a small block 427 the cylinders will be closer together. This can cause overheating problems, which some people don't care for. However, parts for a small block engine are less expensive and more readily available than those for a big block.

The current Generation 3 engines are a completely different design than the old small blocks and big blocks. The LS7 at 427 cubic inches is the same design as the LS1, at 346 cubic inches. The LS7 just has a larger bore and longer stroke. Displacement has nothing to do with the term of small block or big block, those terms both refer to the engine design, or platform. Displacement is a measure in cubic inches, or centimeters of the swept area of the cylinders. It is possible to build a small block to over 500 cubic inches, or a big block as small as 300 cubic inches by varying the bore and stroke

HA ha ha, no. No need for that. Youngsters aren't framilar with real motors from the past. I just saw a mag the other day where some one sold a Cuda for 2.2 mill. We had a neighbor that went through Cudas LIKE CRAZY. I'll bet he wishes he had kept a frew and not wreck them all. But if you must I like melted cheder on my popcorn. Check out ebay some of thse old pontiacs are going for 20k, wish I still had mine.
