Red Oak for stringers

Would it be ok to use red oak as stringers
Is there a such thing as too rigid?
Red oak or hard woods for that matter are denser and stiffer than woods like douglas fir.
I can get red oak in a 1x6x12 clear and dry and was wandering if it would be stronger than a 1x6 doug fir stringer?....Hal

the hard woods have a harder time bonding with the resin and sticking... It can be done but I would only let a pro do it and use epoxy..

I have a Mako flat that has ash stringers and ash veneer ply floor in it that looks veyr nice when finished, ash looks alot like oak, also both hard woods. Oh yeah they are a true 1" x 6".

red oak is generally not a marine wood. It has an open grain and is not good with moisture. White oak is prefered because of the closed grain.
