We've always known them as aligator lizards. Nice one. They do bite pretty hard, non hazardous.

yeah, that is an alligator lizard.
When I was younger one of them lived under our deck. I was able to catch him and put him in a 60 gallon tank I had set up, with water/rocks. He lived in there for about 1-2 years eating healthy and then finally passed away.
You dont know what to do with them, cause they seem pretty iffy.

I was wandering if I put it tank if it would live very long.
This is the second year that I know of that it's been in my yard.

Here's whatcha do:
Put on a grasshopper costume and hop around the back yard for 30 minutes, then hop over by him. When he tries to attack, do a Chuck Norris spinning back kick and knock his lizard ass out! Don't touch him! When he comes to stand in fornt of him in a praying mantis pose. He will see that he has been bitch slapped by a grass hopper and in fear of his buddies finding out, will obey your commands!
Good luck!

Those fockers are mean and aggressive too! We had one in our campsite (girls weekend of course) about 3 years ago and that SOB wouldnt leave the campsite all weekend. We couldnt even scare it away. It ended up biting me on the damn toe when I was BBQ'ng and it left a mark for about a month, not to mention hurt like hell.

I volenteer to protect you girls form the big bad lizard on your next "girls weekend" I will of course need to say in the girls tent to ensure 100% protection as well as will need to attend all showers - those suckers are notorius for shower attacks and as they say" Not on my watch! " :D

That IS an alligater lizard...nasty, mean SOB's...I hate them. Do yourself a favor, take a shovel, go find it, kill it. They do bite, and they get theyre name because they have teeth..if they get at you they will leave a nasty bloody bite, specially one that size. I hate them. Kill them on sight..
(I know what you guys are gonna say, I like to kill everything...but really, these things are bad news...)
I wrestled with them for years at our house in Peralta Hills, and I am here to tell ya..they suck....:D

Yup, good Aligator Lizard. We used to catch them daily by the dozen in Lake Forest when I lived there. We also caught blue bellies, all sorts of snakes. We used to have about 7 fish tanks filled (all the local kids). They would bite eachothers mouths and lock on if you put them face to face!!!:D Fun stuff....oh and I needed to use a shirt to catch them....I hated bare handling them!!

I have a scar on the inside of my left index finger to prove those sums-a-bitches bite like hell. I was 9 years old and used to catch them all the time. One day it caught me!:jawdrop:

They must be attacking around the Sacramento area. My wife took this picture today of this bugger trying to get in the house.
