Email I recieved
>
>I didn't believe it either till I researched what was going on and it's
>true. News is making it's way across the net about the prices. It was an
>article written up warning everyone and prepping everyone for reality:
>
>NO GAS...On May 15th 2007
>Don't pump gas on may 15th ...in April 1997, there was a "gas out"
>conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped
>30 cents a gallon overnight.
>
>On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
>protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most
>places.
>
>There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
>network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
>
>If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
>$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys
>pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on
>May
>15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for
>at least one day.
>
>Let others know so we can possibly keep the prices down. Mark your
>calendars!

Ha Ha, that's funny, dropped 30 cents over night :D The only time you're gonna see gas prices move 30 cents overnight is when they raise it. There was a no gas day on April 15, 2007 as well.

The problem is that we all need gas. If we don't buy it on the 15th, we will buy it on the 14th or 16th...
Another email that is going around says not to buy from Exxon / Mobil. It states that the don't buy gas day doesn't work but this will because it is not one day, it is everyday. The idea is to hit the biggest company and only buy from the smaller ones. This will force Exxon / Mobil to lower their prices bla bla bla. The problem with this idea is that a lot of the smaller companies buy their oil from Exxon / Mobil. I don't have a better idea but I know these don't work.

A better idea would be to beat down the fuggin' tree huggers and build more refineries! IMHO.

A few more items to boycott can be found in this linked PDF. (http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/petroleum_supply_monthly/current/pdf/psmdefs.pdf)

I can't afford to buy gas.:o

Here is why it will NEVER work.. Because you have to buy double the gas the day before, or the day after the boycot.

Gas is over priced & we all know it!
It is absolutely ridiculous how much money we consumers have to pay for it...& whether or not this scheme works was not the idea behind this thread...so everyone get off your " High Horse". I was just passing an email I recieved..I wont be here on the 15th....I will be on my way to Lake Naci...& yep..I will need freakin gas to get there!

I could not agree with you more...Alaska would be a great spot to start digging.

instead of this "gas out" which won't work due to the fact that they get double sales the day after. I think boycoting one fuel company like Cheveron or shell would work better. I think running a fuel company out of business would be a smarter way to go and would send a better statement.....don't you??

Haha , just heard on the radio today ,the government is asking the population to turn the tv's & lights off on the 16th ,to save power
Next they'll ask us not to gas up that day too :) . Kinda shooting yourself in the foot :D

This in theory makes more sense, not really running them out of biz, becuase we are just making another one richer, but cause a domino effect of price change.... boycott cheveron...they would have to lower prices... buy cheveron... boycott shell.... they lower prices.... buy shell...boycott cheveron.... they lower prices.... if we start now it would probably only take about two years for us to get enough people to make a hard enough impact to cause change.. lol

He's not taking things into consideration like distances we have to travel to get anywhere . Over there you can leave your car home all week and use it on weekends only , because of great public transit systems .

Sounds good! Just don't go after insurance agents when your rates go up. :)
