After seeing SWW's 409 I thought I'd post some pics of my 348 that's going in my '58 Beezer... The boat's not quite done but the motor is ready to drop in. Next season I got an offy six-two manifold with six 97's going on it... Now that will be nostalgic (if I don't set myself on fire!)
Sorry about the crappy resolution.

Nice engine but that shop looks sweet! Your mill looks to be just a tad cleaner then mine http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif And yes I did notice that rotory phase converter sitting there. Lets see some more pics of that place. I bet you have some cool wall art.
Oh, the 97's will top that right off in your '58. I had a '60 Kingswood wagon that had that engine in it. (not near that snazzy) That was a fun car. Black with black tinted windows, slammed with old Americans.

Thanks guys,
She's no record setter but it'll push that little 16' Biesemeyer as fast as you can stand...
A little 348 trivia - A 1959 Impala powered by a 348 won the 1960 Daytona 500. Anyone care to guess you was the driver???
SuperDave, Yeah, I'm pretty proud of my shop I pretty much live out there. I'll post some more pics latter.

Junior Johnson?
Lee Petty won in 59, first year of the big track at daytona.
Stabber,
I'll bet she'll smoke my dock beater. That engine looks beautiful. Great job.
Nice shop too!

Old Rig,
Bingo! Man you are the historian on cars as well as boats! I met Junior Johnson at a PRI trade show a few years ago. He spoke at the opening breakfast. When he told us he won the 1960 Daytona 500 with a 348 I cracked up. That's supposedly the race inwhich "drafting" was first used. When I was growing up with the old Biesemeyer my friend's dad had a Tahiti jet with a 455 Olds in it. He use to tell me that his dad said that my dad's boat was powered by an old boat anchor! I wish I would have known then that it had won the Daytona 500!

S&S, great job, I never saw one in the '50s that looked that sharp, I had one with 3 dueces, glide, factory air in a baby blue 58 ragtop, slammed with lakes pipes and Mercury fender skirts, wish I had kept it, might bring a buck today.

I wanna see this ! I saw a 18'Beser with a 348 in 1961 at Canyon Lake in 1961, it was red and white. I have a picture of an old 16'Beser with a white Merc (100??) on the back I'll never forget how the white wraparound molding kept coming off the hull. Sure was a good little rig....we beat it to death!

PGF,
Yeah, it would bring big bucks... I just went to the LA Roadster's show in Pomona and The late 50's early 60's with the 348's and 409's are well over $20K for a nice one. With the nostalgia deal going on everyone's trying to do something different in the street rods and roadsters. The 348/409's are very valuable because of that. Old nailhead Buick's and Caddy engines are popular as well...

Flyte Risk,
Here's a shot of the water pump. It's actually off of a cabin cruiser! You can see that I used a big automotive pulley on the pump, then I machined a small diameter pulley on the crank to slow the pump way down. That thing puts out some serious GPM!

S&S Nothings wrong its just the motors 11 inches away with the casters pointing in that direction. Just dont bump it. Just kidding, I saw the hood and thought I would comment. Every thing looks great. Im a jeff fan.

Stabber,
that convert of pgf127rt's might fetch close to 30 g's, maybe more, in todays market. More than likley end up in Japan. Their buying up all lots of cars at a pretty good rate. Lots of stuff going to Sweden too.
What day were you at LA roadster? We went on Sat. We usually try to go on Friday. A guy I know who was selling there said that if you can't get there by Wed. now, you will miss all the deals. I didn't even know you could get in that early.
Fell in love with that 54 chevy post. The blue and white one from Washington. Did you see it, right next to the swap meet? Almost took my wife out there the next day to look at it, but Sunday was a hectic one. She had to leave again for NY and wasn't really in the mood to go look at cars, and REALLY not in the mood to go through the swap meet, which we would have. She said to just get it if I really wanted it. She's the best. I didn't buy the car, but she's still the best. She's all for anything I bring home that RUNS. Seen to many projects in her time!!!
I was going to take my 28 tudor out there to sell, but a neighbor bought it about a week before the meet.

Old Rig,
I was at the show all weekend. We drive our roadsters down every year and stay right there at the Fairplex. We have a ball. I should have mentioned I was coming down and we could have hooked up. Hopefuly we can meet at Tower Park in August. My goal is to have the Beezer done by then...
058,
Come by anytime! If you're headed this way give me call. (925-454-0180)
