I took these from my back yard yesterday when they were fighting the Yorba Linda fire. they were coming right over my house to scoop water out of the river. I had a problem getting the damn digital camera to take the pic when I wanted and these are the best ones. Got some good videos also but don't know how to post them. There were six of them lining up and scooping the water.

I was thinking about you Tom when I was stuck W/B on the 91 during the fire watching the helos. Where were they getting the water from.

For whatever reason they come over by the golf course (Green River) which is behind our housing tract. Seems they could have scooped it up from a closer area to the fire but maybe it has to do with the river depth. It is pretty cool seeing the choppers come in and scoop the water. I was stuck in that traffic also :(

If I can copy and paste or something like that. . . . I will forward to the Pilots and Crew Chiefs.
I was on the ground at that fire and it was quite impressive for a May Fire. I was out there all day today too. For those who don't know, there will be FF's out there (Planned as of right now) until Friday night maybe Saturday morning - long after the smoke has cleared the air to make sure it does not flare up.
Thanks for posting the pictures:)

Great pics. One of those helos looks like the S.O. and another looks like a news chopper. Nice to see the great response, even though it was close to home for you. Great job by the FFs. :D

The other helos are OC Sheriffs and Anaheim PD. Both carry bambi buckets (60 -90 gallons).
