Dunno Tony ... to me it looks like if Mark's boat wasn't a Gullwing ... he might have broken the beam first (could be the angle though) ... ... one dis-advantage of a Gullwing IMO ... good job this past weekend ...

not sure yet, if its ready then yes but im not gonna thrash to try that race, will be in ubfj and either 8.50 or 9.0 bracket. Doing everything myself this season so its time consuming. New engine, new bottom, new rigging, new fabricated low profile intake, new everything pretty much.

8.50 with the bottle is easy, wont get there on motor.. Everything is just too heavy for racing but its cool, still having fun with it.

everyone can say they are the same etc.blah blah.
Seems to me that or my experience that the rope deal is different njba i left 2 numbers earlier to get the same light.big difference IMO BP might be the only one to run the same numbers but from seeing at ihba some njba regulars seem to have a problem runing the same nuber they do at bako.I want to say its about a 35 ft difference and that can make a huge difference.
I really dont care I dont know what my flat would have ran at bako as i didnt care to run it there with the "slow motor 7.82 et motor"If clockstart thinks roadstroms is quicker i can care less same goes for anyone else Fact is i do hold the ihba and sdba record if anyone thinks they can break it and its easy hey its there go for it i will congradulate who ever does it.But til then its all talk and paper talk.Hell 7.58 is quicker than thurstons flat and shaun forest and mine who are all running spreadport heads and lencos.I can say rogers boat does run well though and the hull has a very good bottom.
I dont have anything against njba just stating my experience i just didnt want to run a race for 200 bucks purse when we can go for 2k plus contigencys

Jetboatguru
05-13-2007, 05:41 PM
The reason there is a discrepancy in the reactions times and leave times between IHBA and NJBA is because the IHBA numbers are in 1/2 second increments. The NJBA clocks are quicker. The distances are "supposed" to be the same. 125 feet is what IHBA is. I believe NJBA is the same. I left on 5 with the TAF and cut a .8 light in Bako last weekend. If that were IHBA It would be around a .1 to a .2.

blue wonder
05-13-2007, 07:53 PM
i was leaving on a 7 at ihba and the worst light i cut was a .36
at bakersfield i left on a 9 and the best light i cut was a .334...go figure?????

as guru noted, the starting system and et's are two entirely seperate things. this will be my 5th year running red bluff, and 6th running chowchilla, plus crewing at both those locations several times, as well as running and crewing at ming. i think i might have a clue as to what it takes to get a certain et number on those tracks solely compared to ming.
as part of a crew that set a pgj record in 2000 that remains the record, i'll agree with you 100% that it is not easy to set records. however, 7.58 is not unrealistic for a comp flat, when considering that it's been 4 years since the last two real pro gas flats ran high 6's, and 7.0's all weekend long. after guru stepped away, i think greg ran several 7.20s with the same boat. (and if you think those numbers weren't real, ask guru or jeff martin).
