I'm new to the Jet Boat world and new to this board (30 posts..lol). So far it's been a GREAT place to read for hours on end. I recently purchased a `76 18' Sanger. I've been reading the threads about Sangers, and soaking up the info. I'm unsure though if my boat is a Sprint or a Super ? I'm posting some pictures, although they will probably be links since I'm not computer smart enough to figure out how to make the picture show up (hell lucky I can turn it on and connect to the net..LOL).
I'm hoping to find out more about my boat. By reading the threads, Sanger is a pretty solid boat. I've only been out with it 6 times or so, only had it 7 months. Up here in WA state, they do a lot off sittin. I was also wondering if there was any chance the Bassett headers came with the boat new ? There's no sign of repairing any transom holes, or any repairs of any kind for that matter. I didn't know ANYTHING about boats when I made the purchase, other than this had a lot of goodies a buddy's boat had. 10 qt. pan, MSD 6AL, VDO guages, Bassett headers, Bassett water pump block off, 2 piece Berk bowl, and Place Diverter. MANY thanks for any info.

Great, THANKS !!! From what I've read, those can be faster than the Super Jets ? Lighter too ? Is that all of the advantages of the Sprint vs. the SJ ?
It does seem to ride a bit ruff, but being a newbie I've not had a lot of seat time. It sure seems to like REAL flat water, any chop and I've got to stick it's nose in the water to not porpoise. I've read about checking the hull for hook, and have been told if the bunks don't go al the way back it's likely to have some ??? Again, THANKS for taking the time to share your knowledge with all of us.

Very tight, acording to the info I have on the Sanger Custom Sprint it has the smallest pass compartment of any other Sanger.

As funny as it is this is the exhaust that came on most of the Sprints and Supers

As far as rough water I would say it excells in it. It is quite funny how the big boat folfs wine and bitch over 1'-2' chop. This particular hull with my set-up in it, has no problem with most conditions.

ive owned 4 boats 2 of which are jets. the boat i have now is a sanger sprint. a little rough in chop, but just slow it down and pick the diverter up. you wont feel a thing. ive hit 3' chop on detroit river going balls out with the tail up and not once did i feel unsafe. all and all my sanger is a keeper'. ill be keeping this one for a long time!
1968 droptop, just curious what the price tag was on your boat. nice boat i like the color scheme. do you have pics on the interior?

I'm with you, I'm a keepin it !!! I think I got lucky one my 1st Jet Boat (hell it's actually my FIRST boat!) !!! As for the price, I got it the way it sits for $3500, including the Ride-On tandem trailer. The paint on the deck has some crazing, and the interior has got some cracking here and there, but over all it looks pretty good. I'll post some pix tomorrow, look for them. Your boat looks fantastic by the way !! I went to see the Steeler's play a home game at Heinz feild in November. When walking up to the staduim, all I could think about is man does that river(s) look like fun !
Squirtin Thunder: I got your PM, and returned one. Forgot to ask, will I get any more speed outta it ?

I don't doubt that, I'm 6'5". Just imagine how far out of the boat I sit...LOL ! Is there any chance you have another one of those brochures ??? Or a copy of one ? I'd love to have a copy of that. And those pipes are not very easy on the eyes! Do these have the ability to be faster than the SJ's ?

nice job man! 3500.00 thats freakin cheap! i payed 3000.00 for mine 3 years ago and i got the motor in cardboard box. the paint was junk and it didnt have the interior. the only thing i got was fiberglass and a pump. 25000.00 later i got a boat i could drive.

Thanks one more time IMPATIENT 1. BBF ALL THE WAY !!! 80's.....Very nice. My goal is 100. I know I know, lots of $$$ to get it, but $$$ has NO value until it's spent...lol. Like I said, I've been in it 6 times. After the first trip I was ready to sell my `68 Firebird Convert, and my wife's `67 Fairlane (390 BBF!), to make the boat faster !!!!!!!!! To say I'm hooked is an UNDERSTATEMENT !
jetboat=$, thank you again for the compliment. Knee's hitting the dash, for me YES YES YES ! I',m 6'5", after a day of boating I have a red mark on my right knee. I moved the go pedal as far farward as it would go. That helped me a bit, but when a 'normal' guy gets behind the wheel it's a joke ! On the passenger side it's not to bad. When I purchased the boat it had the end of a tug-em strap fastened under neath the pass pillion. It makes for a GREAT holy $hit handle. Way better than my buddy's bar on the dash. I think because you can actually hold yourself down ? The back seats are a joke for 2 adualts. 1 sitting across the both of them is actually quite comfortable. I plan on removing them in the future and building a blown 460, but that's a ways off. Have you chatted with Squirtin Thunder ? He's got some good info on our boats. Where did you get the Sanger emblem in you sig ? I want to make that into a sticker and put it on the sides of my trailer.
Squirtin Thunder, thanks for making the picture come up w/o the link. I still can't figure it out ?????????????

I'll most likely keep ahold of them. But maybe sometime in the future I can take some detailed photo's of them out of the boat. It looks as though you can have them made quite easily ?
Thanks 1978Rogers. It looks better in the picture than in person ;-).

It nice to know someone else feels the same way. Mine looks much better in photo. I need to wetsand mine or use a light oxidation remover/polish. But, when in warms up. No sence in doing it now with pulling tarps on & off it. Have I ever said, "I wish I had a garage".
