Be careful with the bulldogs out there.......the heat can exhaust them and kill them. I'm planning on taking my dog this year :)

Joe, it's a pain in the ass if you plan on tieing up in humbug. I would assume your dog isn't quite as mobile as a say a labrador, but I waive anyone off with dogs (and kids) because I have had them come charging down the line and right across my boat.

I use to bring my dog...And he loved it. He would swim for hours, but with the new boat, that AIN't going to happen..
I just made other allowance to get him to the water...

We had out lab w/ us all Friday & Saturday on the boat and while we were at the sandbar and she needed so out of water time (she won't stop till we make her) I put towels ALL over the back of the boat so her paws can't make contact w/ the gel. Sure there is fur in the boat, but I have a vacuum so it can get clean again. She's mad when we don't take her :D She can't get in and out though by herself, she's a sissy la la! We put a life jacket on her so we can get her in and out and hold on to her when we're cruising, she ends up in the back if not and she likes to be in between us or at my feet. Keep him/her in the water lots or a wet towel down on the boat and it should be ok. Just gotta keep them cool.

I only do 'cause the wife wants it that way. Having a dog on a boat is like having a dog anywhere...you'd do better with a 6 year old.
they do shed all over, they do scracth the gel, If "SAM" didn't really enjoy it I wouldn't bother.

I take our Great Dane with us a few times a year. They aren't too hard on stuff as long as they are well behaved and listen. We make sure we lay down towls on the seats and engine hatch too. And trim their nails before just to be safe.

I have an English Bulldog and I would never dream of taking him out. Not only do they not tolerate the heat very well, but bulldogs cannot swim. They will sink like a rock. Your bullie would be so much happier being left at home in the airconditioning.

I have black lab border collie mix named Sally. She lost her left hind leg in a bad car accident, but loves to swim. Although the Tahiti scares her, it makes way to much noise for her. When I am working on the boat she will hop in, or sit on the deck. But if I start it, she takes off running. :(

RD gave me an example once when you're sitting at a floating bar minding your own business, and a brawl breaks out, and it turns on you for no other reason than you happen to be sitting there watching the Dodgers while soaking up the suds,, it's nice to call your dog over from your boat to help hold back the assault while you both make your exit.

We don't bring the dogs anymore since the new boat. We have a Cocker Spaniel that would poop herself if anyone looked at her sideways, and a Springer Spaniel that is a bit crazy and would have to be tied down at all times as to not jump out of the moving boat!
Two weekends ago we pulled into the north end of the channel and a guy's German Shepard jumped onto the front of our boat, digging its claws into the gelcoat. Guy didn't even do anything about it...needless to say we pulled the boat out and moved to the other side.

I used to take Neva just about everywhere in the boat with us. I don't take her so much anymore becuase the big sandbar kinda freaks her out from all the bass from the stereos, and the upper sandbar has to many other dogs running around unattended. Occasionally she'll make a trip up there with us, but she's more of a pain in the ass then it's worth.
As TPC mentioned she does go in the boat to the bars with us at night. More to keep drunk asses out of the boat then anything else.
I'll admit she has changed a few drunks point of views over the years about whether or not it was going to be a good idea to be getting violent or not. They usually come around to my way of thinking, that it wouldn't be a good idea.

I loved taking my Jax but like someone said earlier it's like taking care of a child. They have a great time but they dictate how your day goes. It's like taking your child to Disney Land. You love to see them have fun and the smile on their face, but at the end of the day your ready to pull your hair out.
When on the water you have to constantly think about possible bathroom spots for the pooch. Copper Canyon, its tough. Sand Bar, its easy.
As far as the boat goes, they do make it a little messy/ hairy but we never had a problem with the claws on the upholstery.
He'll still go from time to time but not on big weekends. I say take him. You'll never know till you try.

My wife and I could not have kids for 16 years of marriage. Then at 40 the two of us became the THREE of us.
Then last year some looser dumped a box of dogs in front of my wife's shop and it became the FOUR of us. All pups were adopted.
Part beagle and part chihuahau? MAD MAX loves to be on the boat. Very mellow, just waiting for the next beach.

It depends on the Temp. Triple figures and my dog is just miserable. She's not a water dog so unless I force her into the water she will wait until the last minute to cool off. (of course I don't let her do that) For that reason, I usually leave her at home with a dog sitter during this time of year until it cools.
I know other dogs are different, (smaller, water dogs, etc.) I just feel it would really take a toll if I brought mine out during the summer months.

She went on the Magic a handful of times when she was younger but she could not quite master that when the boat was in motion, she could not jump off the front.
Now once the tooner arrives with a fully gated deck, we will give her another try.
She loves the Rhino though.

We take our bulldog on our boat one day we are out there. We usually find a beach up on the river and let him run around and swim and paly in the water. As long as they have the water near by the heat will not get to them, but you do have to wath them.

We took her to Shasta last year for her first lake trip. She did great. She'd let us know she needed a bathroom break. We'd pull into a cove and she'd jump off, swim to the shore, do her thing and swim back. I thought that was pretty cool. She's kind of a pain to get back in the boat though. I'd end up with scratches all over.

To a degree, I actually designed the Revolution around our dog (and everyone elses) or at least as much as possible. Izzy loves the boat, and after learning all of the lessons in years past about how difficult it is to get dogs on and off, keep the boat clean etc... we really finally have it pretty well dialed in. You can find her in nearly every event pic on our website in fact... Here are a couple...
Here she is at the Martinez sandbar. She gets on and off no problem...

And perhaps the funniest one, a video of her walking around in the boat going better than 90 mph. It is great when she sticks her head up over the front and decides that is a little windy... :D

And lastly... one we took of Chico and Zeus last year at Lake Pleasant...

We use the washdown system to keep her nice and moist during the day if she doesn't want to get in the water. Every 30 minutes or so we just hose her down under the lifejacket and keep her in the shade when it gets really hot. She ususally ends up just going under the helm when it gets that bad though.
Gotta love hose-out interiors!

Awesome pics !! Love dogs. I've brought my chocolate lab a few times, but I really feel he enjoys being at home more than the heat, no naps, no sleep, and getting so drained. I guess it's prolly 50 50 but at least at home, i know he is enjoying the shade, eating his food, and getting his sleep.

As stupid as it sounds, I ask Izzy if she wants to go... Seriously. Some days she is straight in the boat or Rhino, wants to come etc... Some days she just pulls a dumb look and goes back on the couch in the moho. Usually, she wants to go out for the day, and wants to stay in at night. I haven't seen her turn down a day on the boat yet.
Once we break for dinner though, she is all about the memory foam and three bowls of water!
