Hauling bicycles in the bed.

What have you guys rigged up for hauling your bicycles? I need to be able to put them in the bed standing up securely, so I can put luggage and stuff around them, when I pull my boat to the river/lake.
Any suggestions?

Just tie them down like motorcycles, and run a lock through them so nobody steals them.

I always just tie them on top of every thing else...

I have a dualliner in the bed, so no paint scratching. :)
The real truth is the bikes are expensive and I dont want to scratch them! :)

I've always fastened a quick release fork lock to the top edge of the front of the bed.
You remove the front tire and insert the forks into it and tighten the quick release.
They also make a rod the extends across the bed that has multiple quick release attachments. This allows you to remove the rod and have no holes in the bed.
You can also use tie towns. Center the bike and attach the tiedows to the bed on each side of the bike. Cinch the tie downs down evenly until secure. This works best with front suspension bikes, because the suspension gets pulled in somewhat to hold tension.

Don't get the Thule bed mount rack. I bought one and regret it. Very flimsy.
